Errr, I've told you before about posting pornographic images???? :ban:

If you carry on posting these pictures, I will have no choice.....

but to go out and buy one.....:smile::smile::smile:

Good news. The casts are now in at Rimstock/TD for my wheels. So they just need finishing to the required fitment/et/centre bore. Im hopeful to have them fitted on the car, not this weekend, but next weekend. Providing they stick to their planned delivery date with my suppliers.

Fingers crossed.

Thats good news.

Did I see a post you made, regarding you thinking about getting a Cup spoiler? Or was that another Gordini owner?

I have considered it. I posted on the RS forum that i thought it would look good.

Cup spoiler in White would be favourable i reckon.

Although, i have the GT spoiler on the car. Im assuming i would also need to purchase and colour code an original high level brake light/spoiler as well?

Not sure but something like that would need to be done.

I've ordered my Cup spoiler should be here on Thursday. Gonna do mine in black.

Car performed well. Standard brakes are crap though. Fade one minute, then seem on the button the next. Need some decent pads in there. Although, the standard Brembos are not really up to the abuse in general. Ok in a road situation, but on the Ring, they just arent up to the job.

Handling is good, going into the foxhole there is so much stability, you can leave braking very late. The uphill section around kesselchen really makes the car struggle, it needs more torque to deal with that.

Overall, thoroughly impressed with it out the box. Makes for a good fun car around the ring.

Superb, really looks good in the Eifel sunshine!

So, tell me more about the brakes. Not powerful enough or getting heat soaked and useless? What's the plan?

Mike, I think the problem is that they are commercial brembos. Look nice, good on the road but given some proper abuse and hard driving they just fade, glaze or straight up overheat. The smell of them after just 1 lap was quite incredible.

They seem to be on the button at one point, then go for them again and you are a passenger, then again they are great. Ian (driveforward) said similar about the R26r he hired from RSR.

Will try them with some DS2500 first and maybe some better fluid, then decide from there.

Edit: Oh, they would probably be ok on a uk short circuit. But you don't hit 130mph several times on a uk circuit. At least not in a Clio.

Be interesting to see how the handling differs with the lighter wheels. Might increase the braking efficiency too.

I had the same problem with the standard brakes, didn't even seem that great on the road. I put some carbone lorraine pads in there and they're massively better now, managed to boil the fluid when I was bedding them in but it's probably the original fluid so will need to change that for some proper stuff

Hmm, MKI LCR style Brembos eh? - not bad on the road but show them some sustained heat and they're hopeless.

I'm going for the pad and fluid swap straight away and I've got Snetterton booked in first which is a reasonably fast track apparently. I'd like to see if ducting is possible, I believe there's something in the Cup racer parts for this??? I think research is required.

The standard Brembo's aren't very good?????

The callipers and disks are amazing, the standard pads can suffer with hard prolonged use but I'd hardly say the setup was bad. I'd point out that a Clio cup racer has the same callipers and disks. And I know that setup came first in it's class at the britcar 24 hour.
The only difference was DS pads

Might be ok on a short circuit, sure. But no, the standard brembos (and by this I mean, callipers, pads and discs combo) are hopeless. Like you said, cups have different pads and definitely different fluid. Most people don't ever notice the brakes due to using them on the road.

Also, the ring isn't like any other track and sees far more abuse of the brakes due to the immense incline/decline sections when you are pushing pretty hard.

I know, I did 8 pretty hard laps at the weekend, and they were not up to the job of more than 1 lap at a time without some serious cooling in between.

Mike, oh also being out with the cgti lot at the weekend really made me wish I still had a vag car. At least you will still have the best of both worlds.

It's funny because the few times I have been to the 'ring I found it very easy on pads - I did three hot laps one after the other, on a few occassions in my 2.5 Mondeo running standard brakes but with redstuff pads and it didn't miss a beat. I am sure I read elsewhere that it is easy on brakes too.

Also did a couple of laps in a 118d that was completely standard (rental) and didn't suffer with brakes.

Granted neither are as quick as the Clio, but both are noticably heavier and only have single piston calipers.

Planning on tracking mine at Cadwell one evening next month, but I have some 2 piece AP discs and Endless pads to go on, so hopefully that will sort things out.

Shows how crap they are then hey? Maybe it's my driving style. I also haven't done anywhere near enough laps of the ring, so probably brake harder in certain sections than I need to.

I'm sure with better pads the issue will be resolved, but the standard ones are just too poor with heat management from my own experience.
