Racing Blue R27 392/500 - 24/04/15 Polished up/Recaro bases changed over

Washed and dryed the Clio on saturday and topped up with two more layers of Dodo juice Banana armour wax. I am fairly impressed with this stuff when you layer it up but tbh i am still thinking about changing to raceglaze 55 series as this seems to be really well reviewed for the price (£70) and the distributor is conveniently located down the road from me in the next village!

Hope you all enjoy the photos!

Just a small update!

On the Saturday before the Sunday of FCS we did some awesome preperation work in the hope that the weather would hold off for Sunday! So out came the rotary and the 3 stages of Sonus polish and off we went!

Car really cleans up well now, have just done it this morning again and will have to get some pictures up of it soon i think.

Anyways enjoy!

As you can see he had a rather useful Clio/Megane sized gazebo to keep the cars as shaded as possible, you know what its like when your doing this kind of work in the full rays of the sun - impossible!

Also if anyone wants some cup pack suspension in perfect working order, boxed and ready for collection then let me know, its got 30k on it and no damage to any part of it.

Ok some of you may have read the thread i made about the engine issue i am currently facing.

The car is currently still in Smiths Renault in Peterborough, they are taking care of it for me at the moment.

Currently just waiting until Tuesday 21st June to hear their full diagnosis and i hope some quotes on what we need to do to return it to running spot on just like it always was.

They are currently in contact with RUK as am i on the matter as the car is only 6 months outside of the Manufacteurs warranty and to be brutally honest im very disapointed that it looks as if im going to have to rebuild the engine with only 40k on the clock. RUK have also said that this is not something i should be doing with that mileage and the Renault service history that the car has had from new.

Will keep updated.

New engine, clutch kit and lower engine tie bar thingy have been ordered this afternoon. Engine will take around 5 days they think.

The cogs are slowly starting to turn now......

Blimey, anything cause this or did it just go?

You still selling cup suspension?

Btw what wax do you use? your car is gleaming!!

Smiths have said that they dont think we will ever be able to find out the true cause of what happened.....all we know is that when the sump was removed there was too much metal in there for my liking.......it wasnt pretty tbh.

Yes im still selling the cup suspension......please buy it off me!!

I use Dodo Juice Banana Armour hard wax at the moment, the car is looking mint tbh after the machine polishing for FCS.

Thanks!

Is the dodo juice easy to use? im quite happy to get stuck in with some elbow grease but ive no clue on products etc, theres so many! id love to run a machine polisher over mine but how you bring yourself to put that on your paintwork is beyond me, scares the life out of me! lol

How much are ou after for the suspension?

Dodo juice is easy to use but IMO the warmer the wax is to begin with then naturally the easier it is to work into the paintwork. I usually try and make sure that for this reason the wax is atleast at room temperature before applying to paint. All you need is a good base to start with tbh. So for example, wash and dry then clay and wash again. Then a good polish....something like sonus or menzerna maybe.......buff off and then apply the wax.

Rough guide but you get the idea! The machine polisher is apparently easy to use but tbh i just let my mate Dan do it for me whilst i was claying the R26.

Ill PM you RE cup pack suspension.

Cheers!

when you say clay? how do you do that? lol whats clay?

I use autosmart polish atm and i find it great but im sure theres much better out there.

Entry level Meqs clay is available as Halfords but it is a mild clay and i would personally recommend a Vertar medium grade clay, especially if yours hasnt been done before/in a while.

Just mix up a bottle of water/car shampoo at about 25:1 and spray on washed paintwork. Rub the clay from side to side over panels of the car and it will lift off all the stuff that normal washing wont even touch. Paintwork will be left smooth to touch as you glide your hand across the top of it. This basically sets down the base for a great coat of wax, helping to produce the "ultimate shine"............but you will never find the ultimate!!! Its impossible!

Cheers for the little how to, im gonna give that a go asap.

I know ive never done it and i doubt previous owner did, will make the world of difference!

Yes you should give it a go mate. Its fairly easy but just go steady until you get used to what your doing. If your too aggressive it could damage your paint but tbh most clays these days unless they are properly harsh are fine and clearcoat safe.

Just make sure you use plenty of lube!

Engine Update:

Phone call from Smiths Renault yesterday morning confirming the new engine has now arrived along with various other parts im having fitted at the same time.......new clutch and lower engine sway bar for example

They started work on it yesterday so hopefully not too long until i can get it back now. Will have to go careful to begin with on the new engine as its...well.....new!

Really looking forward to getting it back now tbh, i know Smiths will have taken the upmost care with it.

Will keep posted.

Good to hear. Are Renault covering any costs?

Thankfully, the vast majority. Both have been outstanding through the whole process so far. I have added some cost on with saying i want a new clutch and lower engine sway bar but to me it just made sense to get those bits done now and save worrying later.
