SC Auto Electrics; Uh-Oh Take Two!!!
You know it's not going to be good news when the phonecall starts with ''are you a religious person?''...
So after dropping the engine and gearbox, Ste cracked them apart to find, well, the picture speaks for itself...
Seems that part of the pressure plate had gave up and was flailing around the place, taking chunks out of everything in sight and puncturing the gearbox casing, hence the leak. She was going to have a new clutch anyway but now it looked like she'd also need a new flywheel and at the very least a new casing for the gearbox. Strangely, both the clutch and gearbox felt absolutely fine and there was no untoward noises apart from a slight rattle on startup, no crunching from the gears, nothing. It appears that this gearbox has the strongest internals that Renaultsport have ever made seens as around 25% of the 197's/200's have suffered synchro failure but mine has managed to survive around 150Miles of driving like this!!!
