I spent the day after Cadwell making sure I had not done any real damage to the Clio. Despite it hitting three floppy markers no damage has been done other than a tiny bit of paint damage the the outer edge of the passenger side front arch that is barely noticeable. A quick clean (not the whole car), scrub with tar remover, and some Meguiars Ultimate Compound sorted out the black marks left by the markers.

I replaced the missing indicator lens cover after taking one off the old 200.

Sounds like a good time! Glad you both had a good time.

Shame about the red flags though. My mate was there in a mini. Black with green headlight caps and red wheels. He mentioned there was a few clios being a bit eager .

Don’t feel too disheartened about the spin through hall bends. Every single person I know that does trackdays has had a moment of some degree on their first visit there. For me it was flying past an an ep3 just after the mountain and just having to to Chuck the car in hoping it would stick.Still remember thinking “my time has come” when it happened .
Just a thought with you now getting the boost bug. If you’re swapping engines over from the full fat why don’t you just meglio swap?

I think I was next to your mate in the paddock.

I am not too disheartened, just frustrated. On most track days I am able to see some measurable degree of progress, whether that be better lap times by the end of the day, or just getting round the track using the right lines. I just need to go back to Cadwell and have another go.

@EthanMenace wants the boost for his daily driver. I have a Clio 200 engine sat waiting to be transplanted with a gripper in the gearbox. The engine in the current car is okay, but I just want the lower mileage engine that has had the belts done recently to go in the straight Clio shell. Although more power with a Meglio is always a nice thought I really want a car that can stay out on track and just lap, and lap without any temperature issues.

I have been busy this morning.

Here is my first session which features @Beany

This one of @EthanMenace session trying to keep ahead of @AlexW

oooh that shifter. so nice.

i've just emptied the bank with Alex so sadly wont be getting one of those any time soon, but hopefully i can come and admire yours at the next trackday!

also enjoyed those videos - first one with lots of debris on track but no car to be seen?
and second vid... guy in blue clio just didn't bother with that corner at all. perhaps crappy tyres, or too busy watching you gap him.

We now have a second set of spigot rings so we can have a set kept in the track day kit bag and avoid those embarrassing moments when you turn up to a track day and can’t use your track wheels.

They have taken ages to turn up but are a very nice metal set made by Oz.

The engine swap on the drive is happening soon. We have now borrowed an engine hoist.

The old Clio suffered some crash damage that broke the pulley on the Cup auxiliary belt system (the OEM AC delete kit). We have purchased a PMS AC delete kit and aux belt to replace the broken OEM parts.

A new crankshaft pulley and crankshaft pulley bolt was delivered today.

New oil of the engine, il for the gearbox and coolant are due to be delivered this week.

Has anyone got any words of wisdom when pulling the engine out? Are there are specialist tools that we will need?

lots of labelled take away tupperware to group together (and stop loss of) screws/bolts/clips. oh and videos are often handy reference for that angle you didn't happen to get a photo of.

oh and a timelapse camera is something you always wish you'd done in hindsight!

Anyone have any tips on this fuel line connector? I'm struggling to get it undone
buggered up a similar one going into the back of the inlet manifold so thought I'd see if anyone's done it recently rather than annihilating this one too :micah:
