Would you trust them to actually fit a new clutch if you were paying for it? How would you know?

So without getting arsy.
You car broke down out of warranty and its getting fixed at 0 cost to you.
N
They said if renault don't cover it I'm liable as the 12 month used car warranty they gave me doesn't cover it.
Brilliant resolution then mate. RUK/the dealership after a rocky start seem to have been more than reasonable in getting you sorted.
Why not use the vouchers if they're for servicing?
Basically then you didn't have a warranty on the gearbox but Renault UK are still covering it. Or that's what I'm getting from reading that anyway.
Good result anyway.
But that 12 month warranty is with the dealer not Renault and will only cover what it does.
As I have explained, they tried to claim on a manufacturer out of date warranty so warranty said no.
Renault UK will take the cost, not warranty.
And the dealer is covering the rack.
I'm not being funny but I've spent over £150k on renaults and it took them over a week to agree to cover the cost of work on my 4 month (at the time) 265 Trophy. 36 hours is no time at all.
so what if anything does the "second-hand" car warranty cover then if it doesnt cover a gearbox?????
sounds like one big con does this...
I didn't once say 36 hours was a long time.
Look we're going round in circles, you've got your opinion which you're entitled to and I have mine.
My opinion is it would not have been acceptable after two weeks for me to be expected to pay for a gearbox. A gearbox is not a wear and tear item and a gearbox that goes after 20k miles is not fit for purpose.
Yes I'm grateful Renault are covering the gearbox as it saves me having to fight for the dealer to replace the gearbox. Had renault not replaced the gearbox I would not just have bent over and let the dealer charge me to replace it, I would have pursued it with trading standards and the finance company as a vehicle not fit for purpose.
I would not have taken your approach of "12 month warranty is with the dealer not Renault and will only cover what it does." and paid out nearly 2 grand.
Upon further inspection today the gearbox is not an excluded item in the used car warranty so the dealer was trying it on anyway.
Exclusions were things like exhaust, brake pads, tyres, bodywork etc The dealer just didn't want to pay out for it.
But anyway I'm in the wrong, it's ok to buy a car from a dealer where the gearbox and steering rack go after two weeks and how dare I even ask for it to repaired and replaced lol I should just have shut up not called renault to complain and just paid the dealer over 2 grand as they originally demanded.
Moral of the story renault UK are good, franchised renault dealer are sh*t. I will NEVER buy from a franchised dealer again.
Are you for real or one sad troll?
Sounds like it all turned out well then in the end.
It's always horrible when something goes wrong and I'm sure everyone has done the same instant rage thing before. Keeping calm and being a pest always works hahaha!!! You've hit the nail on the head about RUK being good but the dealers being sh!t, you're not the first person to form that opinion and you won't be the last. I'm sure there are some good dealerships out there though... Well, I hope their is anyway!!!
