Thanks a lot for the comments guys. This is what happened with a bit more detail. When I took the car there on Wednesday I spoke to Tim (K-tec) and he said that even though they do a before and after run, they are a bit hesitant/concerned whether to have a before one or not because the car was due to belts. So given that they'd push it on the dyno to extract the best out of it they didn't want to come up with a snapped belt. I told them that I def want a before run because otherwise there is no point, so I had to sign a document basically taking full responsibility should the belt snapped on the dyno which I of course did (the car is still under warranty anyway so at some respect I wouldn't mind a new engine lol).
Anyway, I could have stayed there watching the whole process but it's all about priorities and my priority at that time was to drive back to London asap and catch up with friends over drinks in central enjoying the sunshine rather than standing in a workshop watching a fan going around. I left that to the specialists.
Next day I got there and Paul (who is the one who mainly developing the supercharged one and did the inlets for me) took me for a ride in the supercharged. We talked about loads of things and the 197s power output was of course amongst them. I was surprised when he mentioned that they have even seen 197s pulling 140 bhp lol and they do test/dyno loads of 197s I may add. So then I asked him how much power I was running stock but he didn't know since he wasn't the one doing my car. Something worth mentioning, the ride of the supercharged one was a bit naff so when I asked him what's the setup he started slagging H&R springs off (funnily enough without knowing that I'm running H&R springs) and commenting on how unbalancing the rear is and how H&R never managed to get it right with the renault suspension etc...and of course we agreed
When we got back, Andy was doing the power run of my car, very hot day as I mentioned, great gains with the induction kit they are developing at the moment but because it's not ready yet I stuck with the stock one. I took the car which was literally boiling, A/C on, stuck on M3's traffic and still the car was pulling very nicely. Win.
Agree but if it was me, I would like to know why the figure started so low.
So Litchy what do you reckon their answer at ''why my STOCK 07 plate (initial renault maps) R27 which does loads of granny traffic miles (which doesn't help either) only pulls 182 bhp on a boiling day'' would be mate? Probably laughter...
A recent example I have in memory is Chris' LY R27 which pulled exactly the same on RS rollers, WITH maxogen, exhaust and tb. Did anyone think that it was running low power?
I noticed there's been a few people once fitted them have thought about selling up quite soon after cause it doesn't solve the problem of low down grunt.
These who sold their cars after their quest for power/torque failed, didn't do their homework prior to buying a clio...
congrats on the 20bhp gain mate, never mind what it ended up at, the main thing is you paid to get some gains and you got them
Thanks Chris. Again, I'm not fussed about absolute numbers mate. The car would be the same if the output was 210 or even 190. The difference in gains is there, and I can tell you that, if I go back to Ktec and dyno the car again in a cool day it will def show more. When I drove the car next morning for work, 12C instead of 27 and A/C off it was SERIOUSLY flying. It was pulling like there is no tomorrow. Really impressed. Again, the before and after runs were under the same conditions which is very important. I wouldn't like a cool day on a before run and a hot day on an after if you know what I mean..
Good gains Yiannis!20bhp is making me want CAMS
Thanks mate. Don't it thought. You are running 200bhp anyway, it's not worth it if you are not on the 5th service IMO. It's a lot of money and it doesn't completely tranform the car, as I said it's not a ''life changing mod'' but it helps regaining lost power should you are running low
