Yiannis' Albi Blue R27 - Toning down...

Yiannis' Albi Blue R27. Gloss Black Handles

A good story here. The Akrapovic I got from Ben started rattling about 2 months after fitting. The baffles in the rear left silencer had come loose, something really rare given that the quality of these products is second to none. I dropped Ben a text asking if he could chase this up for me even though the warranty had expired and he - being such a gent and a top man - did successfully so. Akrapovic authorised a replacement straight away and BOOM I got a brand spanking new rear section for free, a part which if I'm not mistaken is the actual slip on Akrapovic and costs nearly a grand! So happy with the outcome and I can't thank Ben enough:smile:

Super happy with the outcome! Next in line is the new projector headlights which I should have gotten by now but I missed the delivery twice:worried: Good times..

Brilliant story that! And fair play to the guy for chasing Akrapovic up - plenty of people would have washed their hands of it.

how do you find the akrapovic system, I've got a milltek catback on my clio and wouldn't mind knowing what the difference is like. the tips of my exhaust rattle badly sometimes which is annoying.

This happened to mine. Also happened with the mid section too

Akrapovic. Replaced bother items no issue

Fair play akrapovic

Thanks guys, a result indeed:smile:

Well I haven't heard a Miltek'd Clio tbh mate so I'm not qualified to express an opinion. From what I've read though you are right, Miltek do tend to rattle because the fitment is not as good as the Akra (well the Akra's fitment is 100% like stock). Also Akra doesn't drone at all on motorway driving but it sounds the business when flatout. Hope that helps mate.

Seriously? And I thought that it was only me! I spoke to Paul@RST about that and he told me that he never came across a rattling Akra lol

What a great guy for sorting that out

Oh yes, what a top guy indeed:wink:)) Thanks again Ben. Massive night out in London on me mate as promised:wink:

Something I wanted to do for a long time...black door handles.

Got a used pair from a Clio 200 and had them sent straight to SS, Simon did the job as always in gloss black and now they are on. Well technically they've been on for more than a month but I just had the opportunity to take some pics while the car is clean:smile: They look absolutely spot on, the colour of the old pair had massively faded (Renault at its best) and apart from that the solour (silver) was out of place on my car's blue/black scheme. Very happy with the outcome, a bitch to change though...

And an addition in the interior, the necessary sticker!

Hi Yiannis, sorry i havent got back to your email yet, yep, the top part of the door card can be done, all i would ask if you can seperate it prior to sending, im not sure how they go together, but they will need a very harsh sanding to begin with so masking i dont think is a good option. Logo wise, without the text i can definitely do it.....possibly with the text as we will have a laser cutter shortly......

Cheers,
Si @ SS

Thanks Simon, I'd have the ditch the door card idea then because the top bit can not be detached from the main card.

Re logo great stuff, I'd send it over to you alongside some other bits:smile:

Black handles look the business. The albi scrubs up well too mate. Want to see this in the flesh some time.

I saw this car yesterday and I must say it's simply stunning, everything about it, the painted parts in the interior really move it up a class or two, miles better than the Renault offering.

Top work Yiannis.

Looks great Yiannis. Every time it see this car, it has had something done that makes it stand apart. Credit to you again. Your old door handles, would they be for sale? Mine are in need of a touch up and SS would do a great job!

Sorry Eddie, they were in the sale section for ages mate and I only sold them about a week ago!

Cheers for the nice comments:smile:

A bit of an update. I fitted the new FK black headlights about 2 weeks ago, in the beginning I really liked the look but I saw another clio with original projectors the other day and I had to look twice, now I'm having second thoughts to be honest.

Regarding the angel eyes, I only connected the ring around the dipped lights (it comes on when the lights are on so it's a nice addition) and I left the ring around the high beam alone. LED sidelight fitted as well and chrome indicator bulbs. H1 fitment for both high and dipped which was a pain because I had to order a set of H1 replacement HID bulbs from HID direct to replace the H7. However, and even though I ordered from the same company and same temperature (4300K) the colour is not the same! They must have changed supplier or something but I didn't lose my sleep tbh.

Some pics then;

Also has to be said that the fitment is not spot on. I had to use a couple of washers to align the headlight with the bumper but it wasn't bad, nothing you can't do. I'll probably leave them on for now and if in the future find a used passenger Valeo headlight I might grab it.
