So I've got a few hours free and I'm in the mood and thought that this might be helpful/interesting for those of you into the ''numbers'' game;

Clio 197 FF;

BHP = 194
lb/Ft = 158
Weight KG = 1240
0-60 Seconds = 6.9
V-Max (Claimed) = 134
Power To Weight = 156

Clio 200 FF;

BHP = 197
lb/Ft = 159
Weight KG = 1240
0-60 Seconds = 6.8
V-Max (Claimed) = 141
Power To Weight = 158

Clio R3 Rally Car;

BHP = 230
lb/Ft = 180
Weight KG = 1080
0-60 Seconds = 5.0
V-Max (Claimed) = 130
Power To Weight = 213

Clio Cup Race Car;

BHP = 205
lb/Ft = 164
Weight KG = 1060
0-60 Seconds = 5.2
V-Max (Claimed) = 150
Power To Weight = 193

The following are the cars that are considered to be the natural rivals of the RS Clio III in terms of age, size and price. For this reason I have not inlcuded the 172 or 182 nor have I included the ''warm-hatch'' contenders such as the 133, 500, Swift or Lupo GTi. If you can think of any more, PM me and I'll update this list, the reason I say PM me is that it'll keep the thread a bit cleaner and easier for people to read without there being lines and lines of suggestions...

Figures in red denote better than 197 and 200.

Figures in blue denote better than 197.

Im a sunburt orange kinda man.

I was to until I seen a green one in the flesh. Not as nice as AG but still bloody awesome.

Wheels are too big for me though. Would have to stick some 17s on for my liking.

VXRs get a bad rep for no reason. Imo, I see the same amount of chavs (100% wise) driving RS' as VXrs.

I think the Corsa got tar'd with the same brush as the Astra, which has always traditionally been a bit of a Barrycar even as far back as the GTE days...

Nice one will but I still think we are far the best looking and at the end of the day I still hate Vauxhalls and yes before anyone asks I have had 2.**** cars

I'd have a Vauxhall Corsa VXR Nurburgring tmw. I tell you, you don't get many Sheriffs driving bright yellow clio's (lol) but never bothered me....

Clio cup 200 actually weighs 1204kg 36kg lighter than a ff. Or go on fastestlaps.com would have saved you a heap of time lol

:rofl: @ Sherriff Litchy!!!

Yeah that's the thing that got me, it's certainly one of the heavier ones. Which to be honest makes the reviews and performance all the more impressive. Imagine how fast it'd be with 100KG shaved off!?! I think a 1100KG weight would be achievable if you were determined enough given that the Cup racers are round about 1050KG and at least 35KG of that will be cage...

I really like what you've done and for those interested in 0-60's and bhp it's great , but those figures only tell one side IMO.

The cup chassis (so handling, braking, cornering etc) is probably one of the best set ups on the cars listed, yet it can't be compared or rated in figures easily (suppose a track lap etc is the closest thing)

My old rallyes were only 103 bhp and 120 bhp would would wipe the floor with a lot of those cars above round a track or set of twisties.

I completely agree James. That's part of the point of it really, the Clio routinely comes top in reviews but on paper it's nowhere near top of the page when it comes to the ''numbers'' and is one of the heaviest as well. Unfortunately laptimes are a hard one on a list like this unless they've all been set by the same driver in similar weather conditions etc. then they don't really mean much.

I know what you mean about the Rallye, I had an S1 with a GTi lump among other goodies as my first car. :thumbup:
