I don't know where this is going to end up...

Apparently gearboxes are like hens teeth so car wasn’t ready in time for Blyton Park. Still had a great time driving my mates MX-5 and saw some mega builds including a supercharged K-swapped Clio… what a noise, until it spilled its guts all over the track in the late afternoon… that was home time for us.

Getting very jealous reading about @EthanMenace trip to the Nurburgring and can’t wait to get out in the Clio again - booked Cadwell Park in October so have something to look forward to later in the year!

Alex is rebuilding a fresh one for me. Provenance of the first box was questionable, but second one should have been good… apparently 6th gear disintegrated and damaged everything else!
That’s unfortunate! 3rd time lucky then….

@Big Ben got the car back today and gearbox is silky smooth again… fingers crossed it lasts a bit longer than the last two.

Wallets significantly lighter though… I should maybe just start a standing order to Alex every month! You must really miss all the Meglio repair bills?
Haha! Alex is missing all my Meglio repair bills more like:grinning:

That new unit and all his toys were paid for by meglio owners I swear..!

Hope the car treats you well going forward. They’re soooooo good when they’re on song. I’ve moved to a different brand and the dramas are significantly reduced(gone actually) but it doesn’t replicate the thrill of a healthy running RenaultSport, no way.

I love the Clio - it’s effortlessly quick with the Meg engine, and so much fun in the corners, but I haven’t missed it on the road at all because of my Kia… totally different car but equally fun on normal bits of tarmac… it’s been getting all my attention recently, including new alloys - new brake discs ready to go on next!

Had PS4s on my standard wheels, and MRFs on my OZs… so decided to swap them over so that I can have the nice wheels on the car for a change!

Anyway, local tyre shop swapped the tyres over for £10 a wheel… but they snapped at least two heads on their machine getting the MRFs off the OZ wheels!

I know the MRFs have stiff sidewalls but wasn’t expecting that

A couple of photos from Thruxton on Monday.

Almost didn’t make it because alternator failed on the way over on Sunday night, and I spent Monday morning at a local garage getting a replacement!

New alternator still throws a low battery warning after about 10mins, but seems to be working ok! Any alternator experts in the forum?!?

The car is looking good in those photos.

What did you think of Thruxton? I have only been there once but thought it was a bit meh?

I had pretty low expectations, and only got out for one set of laps in the late afternoon, but actually quite enjoyed it!

I managed to get my MRFs on the car, but forgot to adjust Gaz Golds so they were on full soft.

It was different to other tracks as very wide in places, and took a few laps to build confidence to carry speed through the long corners. Not totally flat like Bedford either.

I probably won’t rush back, whereas I’m really looking forward to revisiting Cadwell in October!

New alternator in and working, and all set for Cadwell Park which will be my final track day of the year.

Still toying with idea of selling up and buying something newer and more comfortable… Megane 280 might be more age appropriate - I’ll see how my back feels after the 250 mile round trip to Louth!

@Big Ben - were you at the Blue Egg yesterday? Popped in for a bacon roll after dropping in to see Alex and thought I might have spotted you.
