He will do two whites as well if you prefer. I’m so used to seeing southern irish cars driving around and I think they look weird with white rear plates

My dad did his first sprint a while back in the Clio and loved it so he has the bug now as well.

It's to break the timing beam for accurate timekeeping on sprint/hill climb events

Is the beam splitter something that is required by regulations or is this down to the individual to choose if they want to run it?

Yea its a beam splitter for timing
There are regulations about having it and about its size. Mine is a bit big lol
But the final regs for a specific event will often remind you to have it and then say something like “Don’t come crying to us if you don’t have it and you don’t get timed”
I think its almost like a historical thing that they have just kept (I could be wrong). A friend of mine forgot to put it on one day and seemed to have no issues with the current timing equipment.

My first outing in the Clio this year was the craigantlet hillclimb. Weather was looking good all the way up until the day, and there was light rain all day
Was my first proper hillclimb in the car. Went quite well and the Extreme VR2 tyres in W3a were really good. The car felt really good now that its a bit lighter.
I have the cup racer ARB sitting in the shed ready to go on, I just need to order springs that are more similar to the cup racers and then it is basically a full cup racer except no sequential and probably still a bit heavier.
My dad is out next at a sprint at the start of June and I'm back in the M3, then the week after I'll be doing Cultra hillclimb in the Clio. Its more of a day out than a proper hill, I was just in 2nd gear the whole hill I think. Was a good day though, feels like Northern Irelands tiny version of goodwood.

Got the class win at Cultra hill climb yesterday! Really happy with the win, beating faster cars including a mapped Megane 250 and E46 M3. The tight twisty hill suited the car quite well. The extreme VR-2 tyres seem to be really good, I definitely think they are the best bang for buck.
Had a look at the pipercams that are now available for the Clio, seem to be a decent price and I saw Engine Dynamics sell them now too. Anyone use them or know anyone that has used them? Think I fancy a little bit more power lol.
Really want to get the cup racer spring setup and ARB on the car now. I had to keep increasing rear tyre pressure throughout the day for the tight turns, but it did the trick.

Yes I did in the race engine before it dropped a valve, they are basically a direct copy of catcams 403 without the timing issues sometimes faced with catcams. Send Lee an email at piper and I am sure he can sort you out a good price

There isn't that much of an overlap so once mapped it was set to 1072 although this was with high comp pistons.

It has to do with the camera angle and the position in the car. A wide(r) angle will make it look faster. The more environment you'll see passing by left and right the faster it'll look because of the motion blur. Following two examples. One is from one of our tours at our local meeting and the other from two guys from France who drive rallies with their Clio 2 Ragnotti.

This weekend was a two day event at the longest (and craziest lol) hillclimb in the UK. Was a bit nervous about entering this one as it is very fast and a lot to learn. I set myself a goal of 90s and was thrilled with 87.73s and third on both days. It felt crazy going into blind corners and not lifting.

The cheaper CLiP alternative arrived today. Will be interesting to see how I get on with this. Was always annoying that cloned CLiP was expensive and had connection issues, was so much easier to get the BMW tools when I got the M3 as they are just a free install and cheap cable.

I believe the error/fault is just disabled.
The ecu knows there's an issue, but it's prevented from illuminating the light to show that.
The second sensor generally is still required to be plugged in, as without one, there's a different fault code which appears.
