Catcams 5504402 - OWNERS thread, Q&A

You could try contacting Paul at rs tuning to see if he could do anything using one of his remote mapping boxes

Hi

I already have both my cat cams a few time ago but I still do not have the opportunity to install them!!
They still are in the box
How can we check this?? and measurement that I can check??

Thanks

True...true...but, three different mechanics & the same outcome = performance loss...

Hello bud nervous now i have read this ? I have myself just booked for these cams to be done with k teck racing and i do not wajt this happen after spending £1400! Is it sorted now and is the car faster if now sorted ?

No, still no result.

I have now a stock engine without the cams & headwork:

V6 airbox & K&N panel filter
ported inlets
lightweight flywheel
Y-pipe
decat
Miltek catback
PaulRS remap

I think that the guys @ KTech know their job, and by now they have a lot of experience and it should be fine. It has been a year now that I haven't been to England and to be honest, I'm thinking about a road trip to KTech to get it sorted this year or the next and to do some sightseeing too.

No worries thank you, myn has a full stainless milrek exaust, miltek de cat, k&n induction kit, lowered 35mm and has been re mapped, looking forward to getting cams, do you know how any cams posts about kteck? I have heard that with k teck they have had no problems ?

No problem, glad to be of assistance.

Just search the forum, there are a couple of members that have the cams and had no issues whatsoever.

heard that k-tec found an actualt fault with the cams when they had been machined but they told the company and have all been sent back and sorted out so you may possibly have had a set off a bad production line??

I know about that problem. Had one set replaced already on this count (2009.):

I believe this ones are good - had them tested and they seem OK, but I don't have the money/time/guts to install them anymore...

This thread seems to be full of people saying this and that about peak gains

i dont doubt the intentions of this thread and fully see the point however th fact of the matter is if you want a fast car the clio will NEVER be it if you want 300-400 bhp then you should have brought a megane 250

at some point im sure ill put some cams in the clio down at ktech but then perhaps i will not one thing is for sure i wont be figure chasing and i wont be expecting massive gains but if it feels better then lots of win .

i sometimes wonder if i brought the car and spending 20k on a clio is madness untill i drove the megane and realised the appeal of the clio is it feels sharp it feels crisp and the brakes for example work really well , where as when i drove the megan it handled really well but the brakes felt weak and it felt heavy.

anyway i digress but in short good thread but remember people the clio is not a rocket ship enjoy it for what it is mod if you must but keep in mind always the things that make the clio MEGGA .

True, but if you install the cams, you shouldn't have less power than the stock 197.

That's all.

With a healthy 205-210bhp Clio is a rocket. I had a healthy 195bhp (with the V6 airbox, Miltek 200cell cat and catback, lightweight flywheel & remap) and the car was really fast for a 1300kg N/A car...hoped to squeeze out a 10-15bhp more with the ported/matched inlets, head work & cams...but...3 engine failures in the meantime.

But I don't want to go off topic.

from what im hearing about the cams its all about the mdirange power, supposed to be improved dramatically and alot more acceleration and as a whole engine should feel more powerful,

just from what ive heard, from what your saying raptor after fitting cams your bhp has decreased? is anything else effected ?something deffinately isnt right about it.

could be a mapping problem or as danny says even the cam timing could be wrong

TBH, I don't know, can't put my finger on any of these claims but it could be any of it.

The fact is that I lost power - significantly, when on cams.

Not convinced about cams but there are a couple of members due to fit them in the next few weeks so I await to hear their experiences. Its a plan but equaly I'd be gutted if it turns a good car into a bad un'......its not like the clio is slow?
