Sprint Hillclimb 197

How much does yours weigh now? And what this fitting size please? Many thanks

Not sure on the current weight. But it must be pretty light for a MK3 clio now that still has glass. Next time I am at my local track I will ask to see if I can use their weigh bridge.

The fitting is 5/16th. The quick push connectors don’t work. Must use the screw on one. The screw on one is better anyway!

I used a straight version on the tank, its also 5/16th.

Thanks,I was thinking of replacing the plastic injectors rail with a nice billet one too,the original one is 20 years old now

Oh that would be good. With the heavier fuel hose I feel like I need to support it somehow so it isn’t just “hanging” on the plastic rail.
I think that the centre console is part of the Cup Racer dash, but it looks like it has been cut down.
Do they do a right hand version of would this be modified from a left hand one?

If you find the speedo and rev counter mount from the previous pic please let us know. Try APMotorsport for the side mirrors

When I made the new fuel line I just cable tied it to the OEM brackets for the original lines, but that was a bit agricultural. Designed some new brackets to hold the big AN line and the OEM vapour line that has internal tracks for cable ties and screw onto the existing studs. Think they turned out well.

The car is back on its wheels now for the first time in months! Set the ride height again with the new springs as well.

The first event of the year was a day to forget :tired:

Was really looking forward to the first event as I missed the first 3-4 events this year. Was excited to see what the winter changes were going to be like.

I had never been to this hillclimb when it wasn’t raining and the weather looked good.

The morning started off badly when I tried to use 2 cameras and my lap timer instead of 1 camera and the laptimer.

Neither camera came on when the car started. I thought maybe my usb port thing that I have wired in didn’t produce wnough power. So I went back to just one camera. When I plugged the timer and one camera back in, smoke came from my timer and the camera was dead. Looks like there was smoke behind the lens too.

Not a good start…

I plugged my old original camera in and its working fine. This really annoys me as I don’t know what caused this. I thought if there wasn’t enough power for 3 devices they just wouldn’t work, but because I fried them it must have drawn too much or had a voltage spike or something. Now I’m scared to plug stuff in.

That was fine. I then went down for first practice, lights went green and I nearly stalled it off the line. It had a really bad misfire. I hardly had enough power to get up the hill. I’ve had misfires before when water gets down past the coil into the plug. But I got new coil seals, siliconed the washers in the bonnet in and kept a rag on top of it all winter.

Took the coils out, didn’t look too bad. Blew out some moisture from cylinder one but nothing much. Didn't fix it.

Changed the plugs, no luck, changed the coils, no luck. Checked that all injectors were working and they all seemed to spray the same. Although I don’t know what a normal one looks like so not sure id its spraying enough etc. no codes being thrown on a basic code reader other than multiple misfire.

An interesting thing is, if you unplug each coil, the misfire gets worse for all coils, so it doesn’t seem to be one cylinder.

I’m at a bit of a loss, only thing I can think of is we put the new fuel line on and maybe there was a bit of dirt in the line and it clogged the injectors. I ordered a used fuel rail and injectors from ktec incase we can’t get ours cleaned.

I am worried that my usb device issue earlier on caused something.

I have that cheaper version of renault clip that there is a forum post about, I set it up but I hadn’t used it before. When I tried to use it today, I didn’t really know what I was doing and it seems to say the licence has run out :worried:

If anyone has any other ideas I’m all ears.

You could try uninstalling Clip and then reinstalling it - it may give you a temporary licence for about 5 days.

But, I would try Iain's idea of another throttle body. A few people have had odd issues which have been fixed with a different throttle body.

I did have to enter an activation code to get clip, gonna have to look into that again

Do you know if those guys had visual problems, like watching the throttle blade when pressing the pedal to see if there are any issues.

I might have a terrible memory but I think that both @R20BTG and @Helpimonfire had general issues cured by replacing the throttle body but I do not think that they watched the throttle butterfly in action.

You won’t be able to tell visually if it’s ok, it could be electronic internals throwing a wobbly. Swap it with a known good one to rule it out. It’s an easy job. One electrical connector, four bolts, 5 minutes.
