Is his a proper Carbon vent Ben ? Personally i disagree and think its quite alot for not very much if they are your thing.
£80 on ebay for a UK made; Evo real Carbon vent that look to be really nice quality. Or as little as £25 for an ebay special Chinese supplied job. Or even as little as £10 if you want a plastic effort
'Simply' a case of marking the bonnet with the template supplied, cutting it out, sealing up the paint at the edges [Not too critical on an Aluminium bonnet of course] and then affixing the new vent in with Tiger-seal, bolts, sealant etc as applicable.
Not many 'mods' you can do on your car, possibly yourself and with with such impact for £25+ IMO. And if you have an induction kit or something with a Turbo bolted to it under there - i'd think it's likely to be wholly worthwhile.
But if you just hate the 'look' full-stop. That opinion is as valid as the next mans !
Possible vent costs are above. This is by far the simplest, quickest and cheapest way to go about it.
Louvres are approx £150 for the work involved to press in a small pair (One 'strip' each side etc) and then the bonnet repainting costs that will be needed afterward.
And your car amongst others is ripe for this 'mod' !!!

If it was pushing big power and genuinely warranted the bonnet vent being there, then fair enough. I did ask a few people about it after I had my induction kit fitted, general consensus was don't bother...
You are completely right though, certainly one of the only modifications sub-three figures that actually make a change to the car!
I notice louvres seemed to be fairly popular on the Renault 5..

Not a fan of the ducts really as there’s not much bonnet real estate, but with the louvres not only looking subtle, I like the science behind it too. I think it was the same guy who was doing it back then actually as the company name sounds familiar.

Undoubtedly you're right.
I think his resume said he'd been doing them 30+ years or something ?
And he's most keen to state: Whatever car its from, whatever material and whatever design you want - get the parts off the car and to me and i can do it. So he isn't short of confidence.
Which you'd need attacking a vintage and one-off Maserati / Bugatti hood. With the owner stood watching over your shoulder !

Love the wheels Shuv, they will look great. Will hold out to see the vents on completion but that guys work looks first class.
Ever the gleam-freak i've gone over the current daily / Clio saver / middle sprogs wheels the last couple of days as its been warmish and dry. Painted a few bits under the hood while i was at it. Car has been excellent; and so far way better than you could reasonably expect for something near 16 years old.....
That is insane how clean that is!!!

Firstly its the lowest insurance group out there. And isn't absolutely gutless. It will sit at 70mph on the m/ way no issues and is sprightly enough not to become a burden anywhere. His is a special edition 'Life' which comes with air-con,leccy windows, CD player,rev-counter etc. Effectively SXi trim i believe. Any thing this trim or above is plenty good enough.
Parts are 'pennies (£15 for a pair of new front top-mounts / £10 for a new door hinge / £30 for a new CVJ / £14 for new handbrake and g/lever gaitors etc). And everything is so easy to get to and work on.
Its a chain driven not belt driven engine.....so although many are a bit tappety when warm......it wont get terminal in any rush.
Get a good one and i would 100% highly recommend. Hence why so popular with youngsters / those on a budget. **2000 miles pretty much pain free here so far. Touch wood !

Cheers. Nuts isn't it ! Stumbled across it local'ish on ebay really. Although the sellers story of how they owned it /why they were selling was a load of crap: the car itself looked, felt, sounded and drove right. And had a raft of paperwork.
As i said to Chris in his thread: If you're thinking of a second car - you should do it. You'll never look back if you find something cheap and honest....

This is my son's first car. So something cheap we could effectively write-off if he crashed all on his own was part of the goal.
TBH though (And within reason) i'd do the same again now if it were just for me. For what i need - either you're doing it as cheap as you can or your not. Every penny saved in the buying and running for us / me is Clio / Toys / Holiday funds and i need no luxuries for my 8 mile drive to work
But yes; a van / caddy / something practical and useful is the next step up agreed. Maybe i'll think about the same when i lose this one. Not sure what you'd be looking at for something pretty tidy and reliable. £2k perhaps (?)
