Insurance quote *shocked*

i find it always pays to shop around, i was quoted £1650 when my renewal came through with Admiral. Gave Elephant a call who quoted me £830 so Admiral said they would match it, almost half the original quote!

Yeah, well I was very surprised when it came back with that quote.

Like some of you already know, im only 23 with 3 NCB so im over the moon to get it so cheap and was expecting to pay around the £500 mark again.

Just shows how unpredictable car insurance quotes are.

Mine came down by almost £400 this year, due to upgrading to the 200.

Last year: £1170 on the 172, but I got a refund when I swapped to the 200.
This year: £800... Awwww yeaahhhh!!!

Feels good to rejoin the "Sub £1k Insurance Crew". I wont be leaving it again!!!

Im 21 years old btw. Im still going to shop around and look at the specialists, but im quite happy with that price considering.

Hi Mate,

I am 21 and saving up for my clio 197 still. I was interested to read your quote due to you being the same age.

What insurance company did you go with in the end just out of interest?

I have been looking at Greenlight, Adrian Flux, u know the ones that specialize in hot hatches. However reading on here that everyone shopped around on comparison sites, I shall do the same instead of joining one of the ones above straight away.

To date, I have got 3yrs 6months NCB with no points, so I am trying to keep it like that, especially this close to nearly getting the new car. Touch Wood!!

Both my and my mrs on mine, both 32, £700 direct line. bit pricey but we have a Salford postcode (Manchester) so thats why.....

Think i need to move house to a better post code, mine doubled on the 200 this year to £1036
42 yrs old, no points, 14 yrs NCB
So its either the post code making it high or they have seen the way i drive.

jesus mate,

im 37 years old, got 6 points for speeding full no claims tho,

and last year i paid £340 fully comp.

y0 Dude.

Im with Admiral. Always get the cheapest price from them. Make sure you ring them up though after you have got a quote from them. My gocompare price with them was £950ish... Rung them and it was just over £800.
You can always barter with the price.

Im planning to ring a few other places, and then try and drive the price down a bit more.

Dont forget about the cub insurance providers, especially if your car is modified!

I've been with you for a year now. Just got a renewal price through of £867. But cheapest quote I have is £598 !!

So rang you up and i'm waiting for a call back from your 'renewal matching team' or something. Hope you can as your service has been simple and satisfactory.

Just come up to that time of yr for me, 25, 4 years no claims and they are still wanting nearl £700 for the cheapest.

Done direct line and aviva and they were looking at £1400, its stupid, especially when I have a certifcate of advance motirists which is meant to reduce your insurance.

I've just got a multi car policy set up with admiral for my V6 - £600 for the year, im 26, 3 yrs NCB (the V6 is group 20). Seems well worth a look if you have more than one car in your household.

mine was £450 last year (25, 7yrs ncb - 2 month driving ban) which was a saving of £600 from my renewal quote from Churchill! Wondering what it will be this year as it will be over 3 years since my ban and more ncb!

Hi Dude,

Many thanks for getting back to me.

Admiral I have mostly heard good reports about them, but on the other hand I have heard they are pretty pricey. I shall keep your quote in mind. How come you got your quote reduced by £150 just for phoning them?

I didn't think you could barter on insurance quotes due to it being factual info you are putting into the system. I will keep that in mind to.

my insurance would make your eyes water (it's 4 digits)
23, female, 1 at fault accident 2 years ago (which was contested by me as I wasnt) and 2 years NCD.

I paid it all in 1 go as to do it monthly they would have put on £580 extra to the annual one.
this was the cheapest quoye to as I spent a week shopping around.

The £950 quote was from a compare site, so they add their bit to the price aswell. You always seem to get the best price by phone direct.
You can barter with them on price tbh. They have to power to lower that premium a bit if they like you
Admiral have been by far the cheapest for me for the past 3 years now.

They don't add anything on. They make money from commission and advertising. The price you pay should be the same - if it's different going direct that's either due to price fluctuations or the insurer fiddling things to make it cheaper.

Ahh right... My bad... Either way, it's cheaper when going direct by phone. Always has been for me.

My quote last year was also 4 digits 23, male, 1 fault 1years NCB. This year its going to be 4 digits but very very close to 3 so i'm happy. Saying that the R27 F1 is about 2k cheaper than a standard F1 for me to insure :s

Iam turning 19 in July, and looking to buy a 197 in october once i have 1 years no claims bonus and 2 years driving experience. The first year i went on my parents insurance so will only have 1 years no claims bonus to my name in october and the cheapest quote ive found so far is £2900! :worried:

Thats because you're considered too young and inexperienced by insurers to drive a car like a 197.

And by me too, I was 19 once and made a few driving faux pas!
