Here we go again! Thinking of selling the 197?

If you want a track and road car then either stick with the Clio or get an Elise/VX220, I think a 350z would be disappointing on track.

How about a 3.0 Z4, S2000 or Boxster S?

Or a dedicated track car and a shed?

Cheers guys for the comments.

The reason im tempted to sell up is unfortunately the reliability issues. Yes yes i know its to be expected with a car thats a messed about with as much as mine but on average now im going a month between vehicle crippling defects, its spent nearly 4 months at TDF now having problem after problem rectified and now im facing a new engine bill.

I want a car thats fast out the box but reliable, something i havent gotta spend thousands on to make fun. Sure the 350 wont be quicker on a trackday but to be honesti find the 197 a little boring on track, its too settled and predictable! My misses 182 with no ABS is so much more fun because you have to fight it round the track.

Im thinking 310bhp, 3.5 litres of V6 and rear wheel drive plus the interior of the 350z is miles apart from the clios. I'm bloody tempted i gotta admit.

I did look at the S2000 but insurance is rediculous! the Nissan is nearly identical to the clio on insurance for me.

Clios great but its limited in where you can take it in regard to mods. I'm finding everything I want to do cost stupid money cause its not been done before or in limited numbers. i.e ITB. You must be only person running them on a 197, like Mikes the only SC. The cars become developmental cars for their respectful tuners.....Your cars certainly pushed the envelope but at the cost (not only money) but also reliability. Its hard to get the balance with these cars once the mods get intrusive. Your certainly a leader not a follower.
The clios my hobby at the mo but I'm realizing that unlike the 1*2, people realize that you soon exhaust what you can do with them and move onto another hobby. There are sooo many 1*2 with turbo's, Sc, ITB.

I always use Woody's experience as a barometer for moddin' 197. My last car I hated it because of the mods when conversely I was the one who modded it in the first place!!!! lol. When I parted it out, and put it back to standard, it drove nicer in its purist sense. I forgot how good it was to start with. I think the clios like that.

You have some tasty mods and I'm sure you'll get enough money from them to supplement your next 'hobby'. First dibs on your suspension and gearbox please!!!!! lol

Lol i'll take it into consideration Litchy but i may have a buyer already for the car complete at a very generous price.... Its one of those got to be seen motors :tongueout:

You obviously have doubts to think about doing it three times.

Once was enough for me, and I haven't looked back.

But please buy something you will really enjoy, do what YOU want to do, don't base your decision on what we say

If you have had a good offer then take it

offers for modded "used" cars come up rarely

I'm in no doubt of that. I'd love to see it before its sold......

Do your sums though. My last car, I made more for the mods than the car itself.

I was thinking the same until I sat in an R yesterday, the quality of the interior is above and beyond the nissans...

Im doing the same thing... I want to change but I'm stuck on either a 370Z or the Scirocco dare I say it!

Guys i have been in both the 370z is a better looking car but very quiet and very refined money for value the 350 is a great car...
Ben my advice by a turbo car loads more mods out there and Jap cars are easy and cheap to mod..

Personally, i found the 350Z to be rather bloated, overweight, not massively fast, thirsty and fairly boring.

I also think that once you have had ITB's you will want a similar power delivery again, just amplified.

Get an e46 M3

You wont regret it one bit.

DON'T get an RX-8 whatever you do.

As said, they aren't that quick and the running costs are astronomical! I payed £350 in petrol in 2WEEKS! Was getting 12mpg at the best of times. Engine also needs rebuilding at 50-60k. Uses 1L of oil a week.

I went from the RX-8 to my Clio, and haven't looked back!

Don't make a backwards move haha
