Fast Road/Track Ultra Red 197

Got the dash out to lighten it a bit and do some work, removed the passenger airbag and with the help of some speed holes got it down to 6,7kg from the original 11,5kg (this is the bare dash with no vents trims etc) so saved 4,8kg or 42% which is quite good:

I had bought and fitted this aftermarket mount for the gauges but fitment was worse than the original as it has no clips and being one piece its harder to retrim with my limited skill so just went back to the oem one I had before.

The problem with the oem was that it is way too tall and obstructs the view which was the reason why I went with the aftermarket option,so I have cut it and shortened it as much as I could and it's a lot better, from the driver view it's just in line with the end of the dashboard and doesn't poke out like before:

The original radiator support was getting rusty again and wanted to shed some weight with an ali box section so got one to modify:

The two fixing bolts were mauled for some reason so replaced with new ones.

Saved a massive 800 grams, the original was 2.5kg (legs were already cut):

Bought a spare lower and upper intake to get ported/polished and powder coated, the gasket is pretty much the same size as the intake now:

Went with PTFE gasket to try limit heat soak,I thought the description was interesting:

"For every 3.3 °C rise in intake temperature, air density drops by 1%. - An intake temperature drop of around 10 degrees C is expected when using these gaskets on a road driven engine, which is good for around 3 percent power increase."

I bought some yellow trims from the same chap. The lacquer on the first set he sent me was a bit thin and got damaged in transit. He is a pleasure to deal with as he apologised and I am just waiting for a second set to arrive.

Your trims look great in red.

Yes I was only able to find out from another member on here which gave me his name on Insta, was it you? That was much appreciated as I had been looking for the past year for some custom trims,I was impressed with the qualty considering they are handmade,it's never easy to find people like this as they never seem to do much advertising lol.

Thanks although I wouldn't use any of these diy flock kits as it's a pain to get a uniform coating and companies that can do the flocking for you are pretty expensive, that's why I went with the stretch material.

I see, what kind of stretch material is that? Also, are you still running the b-pillar covers? Im planning to take out the roof lining but a bit hesitant about how it will look without covers for a-pillars and b-pillars with all the wiring etc?

It is a faux suede material but since then i think i found a better one which is 4 way strecth and should be easier to fit, only downside is it has a foam backing so once it's glued you can't reposition or it will tear the foam off.

I dont have the B plastic pillars anymore, only the A pillars are left,as I also removed the original seat belts,to cover everything I have used an adhesive carpet like material for vans.

I have used some ali sheet to direct air towards the radiator properly:

Gave it a quick clean for a Sunday drive:

PXL-20250608-120232533.jpg

But then that's when I found a new vibration only at 2k rpm, checked everything that came to mind, only found 2 bolts on the exhaust manifold were loose, fixed that but didn't fix the vibration.
Following day I could hear something that came loose on the gearbox side,I had a suspicion what had happened that I hoped wasn't true.

Clutch straps shat themselves and damaged the gearbox too so that's a good job.
Does anyone know how I can repair these or anyone that can do TIG i can refer to? I'm afraid it will just start cracking all over the place if I fit it back like this.

Old unit looks to be an LuK one which I dont think its the Genuine Renault and will stay far away from.

That is not reassuring at all. :worried:

This is a genuine one from Frogjam,I can see Valeo and LuK on the clutch but nothing on the plate so I don't really know if even to get a Genuine one or not.
