Average age and insurance ...

How do you lot get on declaring your mods with mainstream insurers?

I end up having to ring them up. most of them don't have a clue what im saying "is it performance enhancing?" thats all they say lol. they just put it on the policy lol

a few dont like insuring things other than wheels and body kits but others dont mind extras.

i wonder if the club is big enough now to warrant backing by a specialist insurance company, and offer some kind of discount for being a full, paid up member.

something to suggest perhaps, stu.

Ahh, I've been using Greenlight for so many years now, I don't even bother shopping around.

32 10 years+ NCB a shade over £400. I can do anything I want to the car for no extra premium, just call and add it to the list and (most importantly for me) it is covered fully comp on track days.

Excellent company, couldn't recommend them highly enough, but they are choosy about their customers.

gettin mine on my 21st bday most likely on dads insurance. probably cost around 800 pound.

You can't do that now.. the main driver has to be the policy holder or you'll find your policy is null and voided. You can add him and your mum as additional drivers which lowers the risk... and premium.

Check the small print in your insurance documents. This is after years of new drivers crashing nice cars they shouldn't have been able to drive!

I am 21 with 6 points. I know naughty boy. But I have learnt.
I paid £1040 this year. With 250 excess and declaring the exhaust

Hi mate.

I am 20 at present and saving up for a albi blue 197, which will make me 21 when i purchase it.

What insurance company are you with? I only ask as I have got a quote from Greenlight insurance company. Think they were charging me something like £1197 (i think) I did the quote ages ago. They deal with Hot Hatch's.

I will be driving for 3yrs 10 months when I hopefully get the clio. Did your insurance company take into consideration months or just years as it will be gutting to get the clio just under 4 yrs, just to make the quote a bit cheaper thats all.

Look forward to hearing from you mate

admiral 22 years old £980 in my name,1 year no claims, and one claim due to a knob not wanting to take cash lol

I am presently with Churchill but found them expensive when I put in the quote on comparison website so it's interesting to hear your quote with you being near my age and with me going to have around the same NCB as you... Touch Wood!!!!

Look forward to hearing from you mate

I'm almost 30, paying around £500 with Greenlight. No one can even touch them!

Postcode works against me unfortunately, even though I have 9 years+ no claims! :worried:

Jesus.. I hit a few compare sites and I was getting quotes of £680 odd for a new 200, although I plan on doing about 17k a year.

I'm 33, live in Reading, car garaged, 10 yrs NCB, no claims, no accidents, 3 points, partner added as driver.

Comparison sites are rubbish on the whole mate. Mine comes in at £850 with Admiral and The AA want £1300++

20 years old
3 years no claims
3 points speeding
1 accident from 3 years ago

£1200

current insurer wouldn't insure me online rang them up and got them to insure me for less than the best online quote of £1500. Was impressed.

Got mum and dad on there now though which definately helps
