Yiannis' Albi Blue R27 - Toning down...

Lifting though craners Yiannis?:grinning:

haha not just lifting, but hovering over the middle pedal as well! pussy me:smile:

Flat in 5th through craners is the only way!

Always enjoy your videos Yannis. One of my favourite NA 197s on here.

Thanks mate!

I'm sure there is a way quicker way to go through there than mine and I take what you say on board since you know your stuff:smile:

I tried 4th full throttle but the car was coasting away (dead AD08Rs) which compromised entry to old hairpin, tried braking with left on 4th but it seemed to unsettle the car, tried 5th but the revs felt a tad too low and had to drop 2 gears for old hairpin, I even did 4th trough the old hairpin but didn't seem right with the lack of torque.

Things is, I never timed myself on track (VBox next purchase then to replace the good old bum lap timer??) so I can't really tell which way was quicker, might as well been the one it felt slower lol!

I’ve been out with 2 instructors at Donington, 1st time was down in 4th for the old hairpin, into 3rd and up the hill

2nd time was 5th and then 4th for the hairpin and up.

Going down in 5th settles the car a lot and 4th up the hill isn’t that bad providing you’ve carried the momentum out the hairpin. I’ve spoken to a lot of people who recommend that way. By all means I’m no race driver or anything but it does seem quicker

Back from the Alps then, no drama this year - car performed flawlessly and after last year's 'events' I included a full on spare in the boot:smile:

Only downside was that I run out of tyres so I did Napoleon on idling...which sucks. But hey, immense experience once again!

I've had a take through this thread but can't find what I'm looking for. Which big brake setup do you have on the front @Yiannis197

I've got the performance friction 330mm mate, I've changed rotors once in the past and I'm looking for replacements now as I'm running low. This kit is mega, not so much for the extra diameter as such but for heat dissipation, it was the only setup that could take me through the Alps, no overheating, no warping, no vibrations ever. Problem is...the rotors only cost £600, which is steep.

I was looking to get them from the states but the cost is more or less is the same so I either need to bite the bullet and buy them (Kamracing and Ktec sell them) or go OEM and take it easy on the braking.

@dkmusic I've pm'd you mate

Nice. Those are the ones I had on my original Ag 200 but they look to have changed the design since then.

Hey they? The ones on Kam racing are exactly the same to the ones I bought 6 years ago (I think, maybe even earlier), part numbers are also the same. What makes you say that they changed the design mate?

Also, I was eyeing at the reyland floating rotors. Not enough feedback on those though and too expensive to experiment..

I would avoid the Reyland stuff. The discs they use are pagid blanks that they cut the middle out of to make fit their bells and then they cut grooves in them to look like the PF and AP discs. Alot cheaper but for that very reason.

Good input here, many thanks:smile:
