Yiannis' Albi Blue R27 - Toning down...

Stunning Yiannis! Easily the nicest Albi R27 I've ever seen.

Your amp install was neater than mine. Mine was just in the glove box :tongueout:.

The red kruze control buttons work really well with the rest of the interior. Which stalk adapter did you buy? I had a connects2 one that made the centre console say RENAULT and not the XXXXXX. You have a better screen than I had though so maybe that's the reason.

get the brakes on ASAP. The fill the OZ wheels out perfectly. (not to mention they look fecking great)

Thanks for the comments guys!

That looks incredible. I definitely need the carbon mirrors/bullets and diamonds, are they the ones that bond over the top of existing?

No mate these are direct replacements. You'd have to remove the originals and bond the carbon bits into position using adhesive.

haha you know what mate? I did initially try to put it in the glovebox but this damn thing is too big and it'd occupy the whole space there! So I had to come with a different idea really.

Re adapter, the reason the Xs appear on the screen is because the headunit is switched off and the card is still in the slot. Normally it shows whatever it's been shown on the headunit screen (track id, radio station etc). This Alpine has a sub display out so I made sure to buy the adapter which retains both the stalk controls and the monitor. It wasn't cheap though! Around £80 if I can recall correctly?

Indeed mate:smile: Car is booked for end of August (when I'm coming back from holidays) for service/brakes/induction kit. Just the right timing before the Alpine trip I think:wink:

Looks great some black TPI bolts will top it of a treat

Talk to me Mark, I'm looking to change bolts now but I don't know which ones to go for, size, length etc. Have you got any links mate? Cheers

Have been away on holiday for the last 2 weeks so missed the latest update. Just catching up now.

Fudge me does this car look gorgeous with the Ultras on. Definitely top 2 197s on the forum (I'll always have a soft spot for Simo's 197s). It just looks the biz and will go just as well as she looks.

As for the big brakes? They are a fantastic bit of kit.

Some new updates these days guys.

First of all, I took the car for an MOT last month and all I had was a advisory, excessive play on the drivers ball joint. Kind of expected really because the car is 6 years old and these hadn't ever even replaced. So I ordered a couple from Renault Sport (good practice to change these parts in pairs) and had them fitted. Bloody hell I didn't know how much involved was this job, it took them nearly a day to get it sorted, we did bump into some problems though (passenger's driceshaft seized in, then thread got damaged, we had to send it to be re-threaded etc). We got there eventually and me ended up being £230 poorer. Not expected and obviously, not happy. But hey...

Here are some pics;

Then it was time for the 6th annual service, I popped to K-tec and I had the pf 330mm kit, HEL brake lines, DS2500 and their induction kit fitted as well. I really don't think I need to review the brake kit, we all know it is astounding. Extremely happy with the induction kit as well, it is quiet when you just plod along but it literally s c r e a m s when you go for it. The sound is SO addictive (stock exhaust), especially on the redline, or when matching revs, damn I couldn't stop driving the car! The dyno showed a tiny increase in power/torque but I don't think I can tell. I do think the car pulls a bit better but I put it down to placebo effect. Added bonus is that I can now change sidelight much easier lol. Some pics;

And then it was Mark Fish's time. I took my car there for full geo setup (front and rear). Rear wise, I have several toe/camber shims on my possession (from a member in here) so after talks with Mark I decided to return to positive toe (in) and go for (more) negative camber. However - and because things are never simple - when you use a camber plate it affects the toe and vice versa (not to that extend though). Thankfully Mark knew the matrix so we ended up using 1 degree negative camber shim (which gives a lot of positive toe, in) and we counteract it by using 30' toe shims on negative (out) each side. I ended up with 2.5 degrees negative camber each side and 40' overall toe in. Win. Some pics;;

I got another 4 shims to spare, they will probably be on sale alongside the KTR panel filter:wink:

Thanks for looking.

Of course mate. The phone number is 0208 542 9672, I spoke to a woman named Denise and apparently they keep them in stock. I paid around £60 each plus postage. The work involved is quite a lot really as they had to take everything apart, but the ball joint itself came out easily, they didn't even have to heat the hub. Then obviously you'd need to get it tracked which adds to the expenses...

Hope that helps Jonesy.

Thanks Rogue:smile: The K-tec boys were quite impressed with the interior.

No mate I didn't. This goes far off my capabilities, the local mechanic/mate did it for me and tbh I was well happy with the price considering that they spend loads of hours on my car...

Cheers mate, yes, those brakes are simply phenomenal. btw I drove K-tec's Clio 200T, it is fast I have to say and so much torque in comparison to the 2.0L N/A. Brakes were also brilliant, initial bite was astonishing, not too keen on the gearbox though, even when on Sport/ESP off mode. Not as sharp as a 200 either but obviously the ride was far better. I can see you fitting coilovers the next second ha!
