Shuv's Racing Blue 200...................

Kind words.

The idea of a MK4 has probably been in my head for 2 months. I'm certainly in no hurry in mid-winter though - and aren't about to rush into something i'll regret either way.

If i had more parking space / less kids with cars.....i'd get a second car and tuck the 200 away for weekend blats. Thats something i've thought about ever since i've had the 200 really !

If i'm gonna have one car - the extra comfort / toys / new-ness of the MK4 appeals right now.....

Welcome to have more of a nose round mind if you need anymore convincing

That's the real clincher eh mate? At the end of the day, there's just no denying, it's a way better car all round. I also think they're starting to age really well on me. I wasn't sure about the looks at first but I think they look fantastic now.

There's a fully murdered out one I see around here sometimes and although it's not what I'd do, it looks SO mean.

If it's a single car and you have a family, it's just so the better option.

I echo everything @Big Ben said though :thumb:

Ongoing improvements continue......some of this is routine stuff of course.

Elf Evolution 900 SXR went in today with a new oil filter. Not sure what the supplying garage put in when they did an engine service upon my purchase - but i SWEAR it sounds quieter. Considerably so infact !

I also had my garage re-bleed the brakes today. The say there 'might' have been air in one or both of the rears. Pedal feel firmed-up and improved in my eyes - is the bottom line

Also found a place with a promotion on yesterday for Air-Con recharging. (Mines not great) I'm booked in next Tuesday.....and the cost is £11.99 !!! Check that out

And as all my 'bits had arrived - i came home and conjured up my "Shuv" cold-air feed. My god its tight for space in there !

Been up and down your thread now to try and find this after reading it the other day! Sorry for bringing up the past

Where did you get the thinner yellow silicone hose from?

But it's 10k of hard-earned I could and likely should: just chuck into my pension pot.

Because as enjoyable as toys are: nothing beats getting up and not having to go to work.....

Decisions, decisions.
As much as pensions are a good idea Id say enjoy it now, we never know when our time is up? - I love going to work, it gets really boring doing nothing all day very quickly.

This....

My life falls apart with boredom when I'm off work with nothing planned :tearsofjoy:

Do we know the inner diameter?

@sevenfourate can you remember off the top of your head?

It would be a huge shame if you let the 200 go - it is such a cracking example and the time and effort you put into it is admirable - although I'm sure you would go to/have gone to the same lengths with all of your cars.

I'm a big believer of pensions and savings for the future - definitely more so if you have a family. I also think you need to enjoy the 'here and now' too. The trick is finding the right balance without sacrificing either :excited:

They can't be that bad

Well this has been a busy little area while i've been at work today !

@Ckzzz @Dystant - 99% sure the silicone vacuum hose was the 5mm ID / 10mm OD variant. Looked at my Paypal and back in May i paid £5.89 and im sure i ordered 2m (Ebay order doesn't show after this long). Next size down is still only £5....and i doubt prices have decreased.

So 5mm ID / 10mm OD it is !

@///M "Well that means you're free to do what is right for you, which is a big bonus!" - was that for me. What did you mean by that exactly ?

@Jimmy - you sound like your on my wavelength regarding the life-balance !!!! I like my work. However i would NEVER be bored and home and have many hobbies and interests. Plus there's many-many things i've never tried but would like to. Point being while work is good = being free to do whatever you want everyday is better still. And chucking in a good lump-sum now will pay dividends later. My pot has been doing really well the last few years and that money will make me money AND less time in work....

Regarding the MK4: I'm not even sure what i'd get for say 16.5-17k Clio-wise ? Maybe i should look at Megs too. Insurance is hardly going to be an issue. Safe to say either would be more modern, more frugal and be a nicer place to live in than the 200. But agreed - its a completely different car and is in no way comparing apples with apples. Maybe i'd actually hate both.....

Apart from all that malarky, i most certainly haven't quite finished with the MK3 yet anyway:

Steering wheel in Alcantara / Leather bugs me for some reason and im having it re-trimmed again (I've got zero time for shit that aint right in your head or otherwise) by Royal and it should be ready in a couple of weeks.

And i am going to get the seats or seat in whether i sell or not. I always wanted to get the cockpit - especially the contact points (Pedals, wheel, seat and gearknob) JUST as i wanted....and i haven't fulfilled that yet

@sevenfourate Ha. Yeah was meant for you mate. Should have quoted you then it would have made more sense with some context.

My point was, the car is yours to do what you want with seeing as you have a family wagon.

Which to me means you should even more stay with what you have as you don't need the extra doors and the upgraded creature comforts.

Just seven and a half thousand revs of fun!

Only way to be sure is go test driving mate. A good fun day out if nothing else. At least you'll either feel better about your car or know it's time to sell. Don't sit there doing your own head in about it! Totally been there!

SEVEN THOUSAND SEVEN HUNDRED AND FIFTY reasons to hold onto the gears here Mes (Engine Dynamics raised the limit as my car held just about max power from 6750 - 7750; and they said on standard valves, springs etc it was safe to do so. Graph was really flat at the top end and didn't dramatically drop off like many others / most i've seen. For some reason !

Yea - i've been keeping my eye open for a suitable MK4 Clio RS or Meg to test drive. Nothing within 60 miles has appeared yet.

Cant believe im pretty-much getting talked out of a change by nearly everyone......

You can say that about people trying to talk you out of it but look how you started your reply to me.

That says it all mate. You've got a great car. You shouldn't sell it.

I'm in absolutely the same boat right now. I wanna sell the BMW but it's just so special I'm struggling to get it done.

But my test drive convinced me. I'll do another to be sure but it's getting more and more likely.

It's a complete headspin mate.
