Truly funny Jimmy. 24 hours on and i still cant think of a suitable retort
You've left me speechless.........
I did think i'd just comment on my remap, seeing as 5 days have passed and i've had a chance to get a few miles under my belt.
REMAP SUMMARY:
Firstly: Start-up, normal driving etc - no detrimental issues at all. And the typical Clio cold-start-stutter hasn't even began to rear its very unwelcome head so far. I'm very much from the: Fire it up, wait 10 seconds. then drive off (Of course being VERY careful to keep revs low initially) school of motoring. Not a single hiccup, splutter, judder or windscreen headbutting moment yet. Touch wood !
MPG - cant comment and tbh not hugely interested bar something ridiculous occuring. Suspect it might be slightly better, but i also suspect its very-very close to what it was as standard. And seeing as its impossible to be able to do a tank-full at identical speeds, loads etc etc - a scientific test is near impossible to achieve.
Power - You can more than notice improvements in Torque and HP. Much more driveable, less frenetic gear-stirring needed to make semi-rapid progress = less stress and more relaxed driving due to improved torque and just out and out better fueling i suspect. My seat of the pants dyno also tells me this - to back up the clear improvement on the before and after graphs. But also; with holding its peak power for nearly 1250rpm at the top of the rev-range.....and having the rev-limit raised by 250rpm.......if you scream it now: its very satisfying to use all thats available. TBH it always did feel to be hitting the limiter early and well before the power tailed off........
All i ever wanted was "perfect fuelling". I was never chasing numbers, or a graph to post on the internet to wow and amaze friends. I felt the standard Clio mapping / fuelling was about as bad as it gets. Shocking infact. And i mean that. And having owned many performance cars / bikes in my time; and been in some serious metal i feel i'm fairly qualified to comment.
I can now safely say those minor niggles, glitches, flat-spot and cold start issues has somewhat transformed the car into something with good performance on tap should you want it, but thats also alot easier to live with on a day-to-day, slow / short drive to work basis.
Grinning. Me
