Opinions please - manifold

Hi all,

Just wanted a few opinions on the state of my manifold on the 3rd cylinder (If that's the correct wording)

The video below, shows a black type of outline on the pipe work. To me it looks different to the others.

Any thoughts?

The manifolds crack around the weld causing the black 'soot' where it's cracked, generally it seems to be 2 and 3 that appear most prone. A few on here have had it happen and it's becoming more common. unfortunately it's a git of a job to fix as the manifold has to come out and the gap to get the manifold out from under the car ain't big enough and so you need to drop the subframe.
If you do it it's worth getting a second-hand manifold first, have that one welded and change the flexi pipes at the same time as these have a tendency to deteriorate and split and then swap manifolds over.

It ain't an easy or cheap job, sorry.

Hi Richard.

Thanks for the info. The car is going into Two-techs on Saturday for some other bits. I shall get them to check and il see what their opinion is too.

No probs, if it turns out thats the problem like I say change the flexis as well, Bosal do a replacement for them and I think 265-567 is the part number.

Hi Andy,

If two techs do say the manifold is cracked. Then i shall go from there.

From the pictures i have just taken, its very difficult to see if it is...

That's cheap! Renault wanted £750 just to supply me one when mine cracked!
