Nankang NS-2R Review

So had the nankangs fitted for the weekend done over 300miles and have to say these things are great! Given them a good thrash around our lovely Scottish Tarmac and they just grip and grip, been taking corners over and over again to see how fast it will do them. Was slightly worried about the wet but after taking a few chances I'm extremely surprised feels very similar to how normal tyres feel in the dry  all in all extremely happy with the tyres and for £95 a corner I cannot see how it could get better. Only thing I would say against them is that they aquaplane quite badly, my old conti's never gave me a problem with puddles and standing water but I suppose that's down to the increased footprint with the ns2r's

Cant wait to get these on track (3 weeks today first ever trackday  ) sure if I can keep the heat in them they'll handle brilliantly

So they changed the wheel bearing, and the noise is still there so I have the old one back on.

They're adamant that it's the tyres. Warranty runs out in two weeks, so not sure what to do now! I asked them to fit a different set of wheels to prove the theory but obviously they didn't have another megane...

Can't say I've ever noticed the noise from mine tbh Josh.

I normally have music on and windows down so its not ever bothered me.

I'm going to say here also, it possibly is the tyres. Since I've been running semi slicks, when the tyres get Warmer I can hear more of a rumble, but not to the point of thinking its a wheel bearing.

The Megane is a heavier car than the Clio and uses wider tyres, so that could be a factor if the Megane running these tyres is louder

Well after fun and games with changeable weather at oulton park on weds when we only had wets and pretty much full slicks leading to several lairy moments we decided to get a set of these fitted as intermediates whilst the weather made up its mind (it didnt)....

must say they were pleasantly surprising particularly given the price.... we had the option of these or the federal 595s to try and survive the conditions, ive ran 595s before but these felt a bit more stable to use but not quite as much feedback imo. They certainly arent a true semi slick and theres better options for a road only and wet british roads type tyre, but for anyone that wants to try something more of a step up over a standard road tyre for occasional spirited trackday runs, these are a reasonable option at the current going rate

I'm gonna put my track obsessed best friend onto this...am sure he will want a set of these "gangnam style" or whatever they are called, for his next trackday!

What are the benefits of the 225? Thinking of ordering a set next week. Have a slow puncture in one tyre and a bulge on the other.

the 225 has a wider contact patch, also features a slightly stiffer sidewall plus the added bonus that they are in stock.

The 215's are currently out of stock and Nankang UK do not have a date for when there will be more in the country. Estimates are about another 4 weeks.

We can ship the 225's out immediately though

Cheers. My local Renault specialist wants just under 100 to fit and align them. Not sure I'm gonna have the cash! Might have to sell some bits and bobs and get back to you.

Delivered from abroad from a non authorised dealer so absolutely no comeback if you have a technical issue.

Nankang UK are working at the minute to cut the European supply of a number of similar unauthorised traders doing the same thing.

4 weeks oh bugger my local dealer said my wheels are on the way but do not no when the tyres will be here
