LY200 - too loud or blow up again, taking bets!

Yeah I totally get what you mean, what i've found sometimes there are certain combinations that just seem to not work together, like they excite natural frequencies or something similar.
If you have seen Phil Morrison's 964 RWB Turbo on Youtube, he had a crap drive...it worked out to be Cup 2...arguably the best road tyres, he then put some much lesser non-directional / sided tyres and he said it drove like a brand new car!

My test was more for a test over spending hundreds to rule out the pads. But I get your logic too.
Fingers crossed you can sort this, as I know how shit brake vibration is on a trackday, ruins everything!

yeah pretty much ruined the day tbh.

Thinking back i've def run successful days on the fixed rotors (and yellow stuff) - but the day earlier this year at Snett as mentioned on fixed/yellows was not good :\ Perhaps sticking caliper pistons over heating everything?! Be wise to factor in that rebuild as a matter of course too.

Think I'm 100% decided on staying red calipers, and probably stick on gold bells too.

The PFC 2 piece 330mm discs are the best off the shelf setup for the Clios hands down. I've not heard of anyone that's fitted them have any issues and nearly all of them have been used in anger. I know that the 2 sets on the 2 cars I've had have been problem free and bloody amasing.

I think either setup would do, so I guess it depends if I want to keep with gold coloured bells or not then! Which I think I do, and the few hundred saved would go part towards the Jenvey DBW module

So I eventually made a decision on the brakes! Took me long enough, but I went in the end with brand new red Brembo’s from Renault and new black floating bells.

I’ve booked a couple of dates at Silverstone (12th Nov, 5th Dec), so see how it fares soon enough!

That means the new brakes are:
Standard but new calipers
330mm Godspeed rotors with curved internal vanes (6 groove faces)
Reyland alloy floating bells
DS1.11 fronts
DS2500 rears
RBF660 fluid.

So if they dont provide perfect braking, then I’m not sure where else to turn to! It’ll have to be to a metallic pad compound I guess and assume it was deposits all along.

Went black for these bells so that the floating hardware would stand out more, I miss the Gold, but these look more hardcore I think and I’m growing to like the more I think (excuse the dirty wheels!).

Nice combo, Rich, they look great! I didn't know the Godspeed discs mate up to the Reyland bells, thats good news when it comes time for disc changes.
Any reason why you went with Godspeed discs over a Reyland set?

Reyland use a standard APRacing PCD so I assumed they would, that also means it’s possible to fit APs too. Though about £750 for them I got quoted!

I went Godspeed rotors as they do a better version with curved interval vanes, which helps to dispel the air. Reylands are all straight, how much difference it makes in reality I don’t really know, the ‘internet’ would like you to believe lots(!) but the Gospeed were 300ish so decent value anyway really.

I have been thinking back to past Trackdays and I had the 330mm Reyland and yellowstuff and never had problems before. So who knows why the brakes have been shit recently. I just had both drop links changed as they were shagged... could it have related to that maybe!?

anyway bar the fact I want to re-wire the engine loom again to sort the dash out, the car should be completely 100% fighting fit - long time since I can say that! - so I’ll be expecting a faultless track day ....
