no messing about,is it??good to see a good maintenance taking place..
I love my cars
Cant help but look after them properly. I'll be painting the hubs of the discs black tomorrow night ready for fitting, and painting the edges of the discs too to reduce any unsightly premature rusting.
Being a designer for 25 years, presentation is a big part of what I am and what I do.
Presentation of the car says a lot about the person too (as I'm sure applies to a lot of guys on this forum)
I'll post pics up when they're all done and fitted.

I bet if you actually measured them accurately they aren't that low, the measuring tool used by Renault wont measure to 0.1mm, id put money on that! ive never seen a car garage with a proper micrometer yet
Yeah I understand what you're saying.
Either way the rears were 95% worn and the fronts 75%
I could've got a few more months wear out of them, certainly the fronts, though the rears were starting to look a bit scored in places on the right rear, and the bearing was sounding like it was on its way out anyway.
Jobs ticked off the list now, all the parts arrived today and they're getting replaced in the garage on Monday next week.
£60 - and I know they'll be spot on.

Capitalised on the continuing nice weather to get the new discs painted out on the drive on Saturday.
Tools:
Brake cleaner
Neoprene gloves
Hammerite Satin Black spray can
Masking tape
Sharp knife
Kneeling pad and some polythene sheet!
First up was painting the Pagid rear discs as these are not coated, so will end up rusting in due course.

After doing the two rears, I picked up the front brembos and thought, even though they are coated already, that they would look better if they looked the same as the rears. The Brembo coating is a sort of metallic grey.
So I got on with painting the fronts too

Had them fitted today.
My mate scoffed a bit at me buying new pins because I said they sometimes corrode in or bend when you try and get them out.
He said if you know that much about them I'm surprised why you don't fit the f*ckers yourself lol
Anyway he cracked on this afternoon and he was happy that I bought new pins because one was a swine to get out so it needed to be replaced. £12 well spent.
He commented that the front and rear discs were quality and was impressed at the fit of the Pagid rears with the bearings and abs rings fitted.
The old ones came off easy, no drama, and the new ones went on without a hitch.

Hoping the 3 coats of Hammerite last nicely and at least stop the rust from detracting from the wheels.
I might bang some sealant on the hubs that I've painted when I take the wheels off to seal them
Next stop is cleaning up/painting the calipers.
I'll just smooth silver hammerite the rears.
Don't know about the fronts though - I think a sprayed finish might look better and then get new Brembo transfers

Spent a fair amount of this weekend detailing the car.
No pics yet, but I will add them eventually.
Washed with Bilt Hamber auto wash
Iron particles removed with Bilt Hamber Korrosol
Tar removed with Autosmart Tardis
Clayed with Bilt Hamber medium clay
Then fully machine polished using Sonax EX04-06 and Rupes pads to get correction, then finish.
Sealed with Fusso Coat 12 month coating.
Paintwork is soooooo slick now, will be interesting to see the mental beading when it rains.
On a side note, passenger side headlight went during the week so I replaced it with a spare off the garage shelf.
The Philips White Vision I fitted only about 6 months ago.
So this time I'm trying Osram Cool Blue Intense
( I have the Osram CBI in the Porsche in a H8 fitment for fog lights and they look fantastic, best bulbs I have ever bought for giving you that proper full white bulb - they're just about as good as the 6000k LED sidelights I have in right next to them )
Task in mind, I was worried about replacing the bulb, but removed the air box trumpet and got my hands in the gap ok to removed the plug and the bulb.
Re-fitting, I fitted the bulb to the plug, and fitted it back in.
It took me a while to be able to get the bulb to sit right, but I guess it was about 15-20 mins.
When re-fitted the nuts holding the trumpet back on I dropped the f**cking nut right down in to the bottom of the under tray
I could see where it was, and ended up going to 'The Range' to get a telescopic magnetic rod to try and collect it without having the hassle of removing the wheel arch liner.
I had to remove the trumpet again, and the magnet did the job.
All back fitted, and waiting for the Osrams to arrive and I'll try again next weekend (as the drivers side is lovely and white, White Vision, and the passenger is...well, standard yellow lol

Well the drivers side dipped headlight blew Friday night this week - balls
Cant believe it, left and right go within a week of each other.
Those Philips White Vision bulbs look great but are pants for longevity.
So I fitted passenger and driver side dipped today.
Osram Cool Blue Intense H7's.
Very happy, and managed to fit Philips Ultinon 4000k LED sidelights while I was at it.
I'll try and get pics at night so you can see what a good match they are...
...and thank GOD I've got rid of the OEM candle sidelights that the car comes with

Having done it once last week, the second time was reasonably straight forward and now I've done both sides and learnt a bit along the way, I'd be confident to blast through it even faster next time.
Hats off to you for whipping the bumper off
