Engine Blew up!!

i was driving on the m6 doing 70 using cruise control when i heard a bang and thought it was a tyre at first but all kinds of dash warning lights came on and white smoke came from under the bonnet i pulled over and there was oil everywhere turns out it was the con rod detaching its self from the piston head and deciding it didnt want to be in the engine anymore bad times

:':smile:thumb1:

Ooooo, that's a bummer to say the least! Sounds dramatic as well.

Hope you get it sorted ok, may not be the cheapest fix in the world though.

Holy crap dude. How old is the car? was it serviced regularly? I would be phoning RUK if it has a full service history to see if they will even help you out

just noticed you are in Germany.. many rUK equilivent?

Oh dear! Get in touch with Renault. Hopefully your car has a fully stamped Renault service history. Ive just had my engine replaced and they contributed significantly towards the issue.

its a 09 plate 200 with 25000 miles on its all been sorted my car was up to dates with servicing the dealers were quality just taking a while it was dramatic i s**t myself lol but i had to pay £214 for aa cover because the two year one from renault had ran out by six weeks but RUK said they will look into giving me that back the service iv had has been superb no problems what so ever

wow thats bad ....... con bearings??? as rene pointed out the other day

I suspect youll get the £200 odd back through Ruk they are very good or were for me anyway so i dont see how it would be any different for you!

Glad R UK got it sorted out for you. It always makes the situation that less stressful when you get good service on such a major problem as what you experienced mate.

JEEEEEEEEEZZZ!!!!! Look at the state of that! Glad your getting it fixed mate, rubbish feeling i know.

I would be surprised if they dont just put a new engine in. Rather than repair that mess.

Bloody hell!

That isna't a nice sight, pretty worrying that it was st cruising on the motorway too!

So glad that you are getting it sorted though - that must be a relief for you!

That's well and truely melted, never seen one looking so bad!

Did you use the car on the track a lot? Simo said he'd heard of some people having oil starvation from the track

Same thing happened to me!!!! Its the con rod bolts, mine happened at 5.5k in 2nd and bang!!! Exactly the same as yours! Luck of the draw lol!! Best thing is to keep these cars constantly topped up with oil!!

The images are frightening indeed. Glad to see RUK is helping to get this sorted asap.

Were you running low on oil when this happened?
