Is the weak point of the engine maybe the piston rod? A fellow here in Slovenia is pushing his Megane RS to 300hp+ and he said that the rods are problematic because they're the same as in the Clio 197 iirc

Is there any written back up of that? I would of thought it could do a bit more than that!!

You have to keep in mind that even when they find the limits of the engine the gearbox is a very weak link in the 197s.

Recipe for unreliability if you ask me.

depends which part of the rod is the "weakest" - is it the big end bolts.....these are changed on clio racers.....

Not happening on standard internals, altho a new fuel pump might help things i'm not going that route now.

From what I have read and cost wise I would rather fit lumpy cam shafts, head work and live map tbh.

A nice 200hp@ wheels of NA power. Noice!
