Yiannis' Albi Blue R27 - Toning down...

Well, I know now! Thanks mate.
Very interesting. I've just bought a set of semi slicks that'll likely only see 4 track days a year , & then only be used if it's dry/damp. How long are they going to be useable time wise?

the crack possibly from age, but those chunks you're missing is from riding the curbs. had it happen to my first set of cup 2's.

Can I ask of you prefer the gear knob over the original?

Was thinking of getting it myself but want better feel

was this organised as an 'open pitlane' or were there seperate sessions?

Sorry Peter just saw that! It was an open pitlane, I tend to avoid sessions because everyone goes out at a specific time and therefore it's too busy for my liking.

Definitely, it's heavier and adds to the feel.

I actually meant off track, I was in the look for any members from in here for a catch up over coffee etc but didn't see anyone, I thought everyone was from cliosport.net!

Terribly sorry mate but totally missed your question. Absolutely is the answer. Brilliantly weighted and much better feel. I like the fact that it's metal as well. I wouldn't go back to the original shifter.

A lot mate but I just don't have as much time as I used to so as to keep this thread up to date.

Since then I had a couple of track days (Bedford and Brands) but again - no time to edit any videos.

The car has been in the garage for the last month for the Alps preparation. Overhaul check, new pads at the front (CL RC8), usual service (oil, plugs, gearbox oil which is now an annual thing, Ktec filter cleaned, cabin filter the whole lot).

Then I had to change the near side ball joint because there was a bit of a play, that didn't even have 2k miles under its belt since the total front restoration! Note to myself - stop climbing the kerbs the way I do.

Lots of seals changed because i hate oil leaks (even the smallest one), induction manifold removed and cleaned as well as sump, new gaskets there. Sandwich plate fitted for the gauges, solenoid seal replaced, cover bolts re-sealed.

I eventually had the Megane auto dim mirror wired! That took me many years lol

I also fitted a Braille Lithium battery so some weight has been removed from the front end which is always good!

And last but not least, I sent the AST 5200s back to AST for a total overhaul. Now that was an EXPENSIVE job as lots of stuff had worn out. Last service was 3 years ago but still, not even 8,000 miles. New rear shafts, new seals, new damping to make it more compliant, new bearings on the top mounts, I also fitted digressive pistons at the rear, didn't get much change out of £1k...

I'll be going to Donington this weekend (not a TD but a mate is racing in his Caterham) and next Friday I'm off to the Alps. I'll get some pics up when I got a minute but I can't wait to hit the twisties once again. 9 cars this year, 5 Exige V6s, 2 Exiges S2, one S1 honda supercharged and myself. Should be fun!
