winding brake calliper back helppp

hi guys, got the new disc on and sorted, i need to wind the brake calliper back without the tool, first question, where is this wind back thing located?

is it behind the inner brake pad?

Yes it is. It will look like a disc with a couple of indentations. You can use some needle nose pliers. You have to push and turn clockwise at the same time.

should you really be doing brakes if your asking those sort of questions.....

they are a safety critical item!

if you do a search there is a massive amount of information on all this....

Good luck with the pliers, took the skin off my knuckles the last time I tried like that!! Wind back tool are about £15 from halfords, money well spent IMO

pump the brake peddle and work the handbrake lever to reset the pads in position. they disc should spin no more than a single rotation after this.

1. make sure the handbrake is fully off and the arms are on the stops

2. wind the piston fully back

3. fit pads/caliper

4. work footbrake and handbrake to adjust brakes

disc should run free with only a small amount of touch from the pads...if done correctly!
