wheres everyone gone?????

You've just promoted yourself to area rep lol
But on the other hand why does it need to be a rep that organises something.?

you will always get those that can have a beef about something but have no actual alternatives...or have an hidden adgenda

I did 52mile round trip last night to the Yorkshire monthly meet....and no one new turned up but the meets have been going for the last few years regularly and at different places to encourage people to make the effort! I don't do it or have done it for a pat on the back but did it because it was enjoyable...

theres every chance things will ramp up after October :shout:

as for the "admin/mods" on here getting some bad press - they clubbed together (behind the scenes) for someone that was supposed to be going through a bad patch - to cut a long story short that person basically threw it back in their faces and from what I can tell it was a fantasy - truly shocking treatment for what they did and effort put it..shameful...

Yeh i found that on the renault forum no1 likes the 200t so why post ? Personally i have gone to one on facebook i dont know if i can say the name but its quite good. I wouldn't like to see this close as like you say it is good to see so many types of rs models and it you so many ideas for your own. What colour 200t you got mines LY and tbh i dot see why it gets all the negative press i love it

As a hopefully soon to be 200t owner (Arnold Clark / Renault get your finger out please!) I'd be sad to see this site go dark :blush:hmy: As it seems to be a decent site for Clio owners of "all" the various incarnations / generations  Was more than a bit disappointed to see all the hate given the 200t on the Renault-sport forum (hardly encourages you to bother posting anything on that site), though got to admit that it does look like the same 4/5 posters that keep trying to shout you down:worried: Some folks seem incapable of understanding that not everyone's requirement's / likes are the same as theirs. Would not mind so much ... but I doubt that a lot of the folks moaning about the car, have even driven one.

you should post up on the rs forum about this....

a few of us have had some right stick on there for defending the brand!!!

As a new member to the site I wanted to give my two-penneth. I enjoy logging on here, it's a good site with plenty of information, and it - and the members - have been very helpful when I've had queries or been after advice.

I haven't been able to make it to the recent Yorkshire meets due to work commitments, however it's good to know they they go on and that the option is there. The one run-out I attended with the NE lot was great fun and the people I met were spot on.

I've not noticed any negativity towards new members and this forum is certainly not cliquey like some I've been a member on.

My thoughts exactly. Everyone is entitled to there own opinions, right, wrong or indifferent.

Shocking last paragraph from an admin/mod foxspeed. What you did or didn't do or what ever for who ever has nothing to do with this thread. Again bringing in personal attacks is not professional at all! I don't understand why yourself and jase have brought up personal or "other club" business. This is not the place to put in stupid comments like that. This is a thread set up for discussion of the lack of activity on 197.net not other car clubs or forums.

The problem is that as I see other than larger meets staff don't attend anything or make the effort to go out of their area to welcome other people in the different regions.( was nice to see you all at FCS by the way) 1 or 2 of the "staff" were there, please correct me if I'm wrong?!? As a club do the staff not think it's important to get out and meet the people that they have a relationship with even if it is on a forum behind a computer. It's become a faceless website that people change/edit things that others say when they haven't even met them in person! I must have done at least 10 or 12 meets and their has been 1 member of "staff" who attended most times. I met others once and that was it.

again brands was the best example. We had 2 garages for us as a group and both members of "staff that were there did not park in them so how are people to know that the guys in the clios 15 garages down are from the forum. I'm sure one of the staff was just hanging around with his mates in a separate garage with others from another forum (I might be wrong on that but I'm sure they are staff also)

the reason it's going the way it's going is because the site is set up, it runs it's self, It generates a nice profit and that's all that matters no? No need to get out and meet new members, no need to help generate new blood that will take over setting up meets when the old guys move on, it's a real shame that the site has moved from being a fantastic welcoming community to being run by people that are only prepared to edit and moderate the site.

with respect here...

it was posted about the admin/mods on here getting bad press - as if we are the "bad guys" - we are also entitled to a say and some don't know what goes on behind the scenes and yes manipulation from others that want to undermine work done on here - I don't often comment on threads like these I wonder why!

I agree I don't usually comment and have kept out of it but as the mods/admin are saying EVERYTIME "people will criticise but won't give any way of fixing things" people are giving opinions but are not being listened to at all. I'm sorry for getting ****ty but like I said as a bloody active member on meets I feel like HOPEFULLY my opinion gets listened to

you cannot knock someone being passionate

but sometimes try as hard as you like and you will get let down its the nature of it (people) - when we did a meet I usually said that rule of thumb was that only 50% of those that said yes I will attend will turn up and on the majority of meets that held true

there is now a small group of us that do meet up regular as clock work

as for admin/mods - its done in your own time and its usually a thankless and often as the case an easy target for criticisms
but deletions etc have to be done

as for the site being quiet/loss of members - theres been plenty sign up but some don't want to "engage" and it is holiday time

The forum isn't quiet and it's still attracting new members.

There's been over 60 registrations in the last 10 days. Which if you take into account how well established these cars are and how little google advertising this forum does, that's nice and strong.

But how many are active???

You can have a million members/registrations but if only 12 are active then id say its pretty much dead..

Glad that pratt cdave has gone lol

Well, just as a figure. 132 individual members have read/replied in this thread alone. Quite a bit more than a small handful that people are suggesting.

it can happen but how do you get "members" to post or get involved if they don't want to?

many join here - post a question - get an answer and then don't post anymore...

some change cars regularly so members will come and go and other just love to stay even when banned!!!

Really like this forum, tbh I don't know how I found it. My car came with a CS sticker so I went on there first, but theres so many members and so many rude people just by glancing round the forum, I think I stumbled upon this one.

Nice friendly regular people!

Just to add to my earlier post, and in response to fox - often, when becoming a new member on a forum, it can be a bit intimidating as it's clear that there is a well-established core of people who all know each other and get on well. As a 'newbie', it can be a bit off-putting and that can perhaps discourage people from becoming active.

There's a lot of other reasons that people might not get fully involved, but on the whole 197.net is a good site and seems to have a good reputation - I considered no other forums when I bought my Clio and I am pleased to be part of this community.

With regards to mods/admin getting flack - I've been a mod on another forum and I agree that it's often a thankless role and you get stick from members no matter what you do. You can't please everyone all the time - it's just not possible. But we all have to take the site for what it is and what it provides us and just try to enjoy it.

But by all means, it is still very important for all sides to have an opinion and for everyone to ensure that those opinions are heard and respected.

Keyboard now on fire from the essay......
