Top oil level?

Go all the way to the limiter but be careful not to go over - you'll lose speed then, but if you practice it well - you'll be faster than before.

That's the common "problem" with 197 owners - they change gears at the light.

I know man...i'm talking about pushing on a twisty road,heel-toeing,left foot braking etc..,there is no room for perfect shifts during that..at least i can't do it...

p.s. Is the process of moving up the limiter difficult? Does it require a remap?

Mine occasionally shows top up oil level despite showing full on the dipstick, flick the ignition a few times and it shows full...

It's happened once or twice now and I religiously check my oil everyday prior to use.

I'll have it in mind, thanks bro

Oh, OK than. 8)

It doesn't need a remap, but you got to have a map modding software like Alienware,...

If you do move up your limiter - do change gears @ 7500-7600rpm because that's it's the ideal for your car. I still have to see where should I change gears after the cams & remap.

So i filled it up 2 weeks ago and after 500 km it is now half full (or half empty)..

The guys at Renault say i push it too much and thats why its eating up all this oil... Total bs if you ask me.

Anybody else had this problem at such a rate? Any suggestions?

Even an rx8 doesn't go through oil that quickly! Thats quite something, I really think the dealer needs to look into it cos at that rate you will need to fill up every time you go to the petrol station!

mine has the same problem

I drove it slowly for 1,000 kms and it still eats oil, so it's not the driving style

the dealer asked me to leave the car on Monday for some RenaultSport specialists to have a look at it

can't wait for the verdict

ok they tested the compression and its lower than standard specs

Saturday they're opening up the engine......

Thanks for the info,im getting it checked tommorow..

Is the low compression a serious problem? What may have caused it?

my guess is rings not seated properly on the pistons, or a manufacturing defect

they need to open the engine to confirm the problem so will only know next week

they've opened the engine and after 1 week of checking it, couldn't find a definite fault......I am now getting new valves, piston rings, oil pump, pcv valve and other bits via warranty

problem is some parts need to be shipped from France ...... waiting time 2 weeks

you'd have thought they would just send a new engine out and recon yours. I bet it took some time to get the engine out lol

Mine eats some oil, but not that much. I'll have the compression checked anyways, but if it's low I can guarantee you that I will fight for a brand new engine, don't want the renault mechanics (at least here in Spain) opening up my engine and messing it up.
