Toms LY200

Long post but I thought I’d start a thread here for bits and bobs I’m doing on the car rather than clogging the forums with new threads every time I refill my screen wash.
Bought the car in May last year from KTEC and I’ve had to do a few things to it since then. Fitted a new wiper motor in August last year due to water buildup in the scuttle, my fault for not checking as I knew blocked drains was a common fault.
Aux Belt and tensioner was fitted early this due to a huge chunk of ribs missing on the belt, just glad I caught it before it went snap.
New front brake lines fitted in May this year due to the previous owner installing braided hoses that weren’t secured correctly and rubbed away against the inner lip of the rim. AC6FC9E1-0512-45ED-A755-F98979821BD6.jpeg 82BE7F69-9DBE-4E6F-BAF5-2FF9ABE71490.jpeg
Fitted a KTEC catback system for the added hooligan effect which it does very nicely. Not so sure it would work particularly well if I had to drive far for my work commute but luckily it’s only 3 miles away. Had to make the end tips for it as they didn’t come with the second hand system I bought.F933E71F-77B6-4D54-AD19-D686E72E9470.jpeg
Fitted the KTEC induction kit for even more growl at the other end. Can’t really say it feels like I’ve gained or lost any power but again the sound is fun which was the main reason for purchase.C3BED765-8377-4E84-97E6-1239D9685A8B.jpeg
My final most recent purchase was a roof box and a set of racks. Me and two other friends have decided we’re going to tour Europe next year in our cars so I wanted the extra room with us camping. I probably could have got away with removing the rear bench and the strut brace then brimming the car but what’s the fun in that?26AF08EA-D5C8-4AE6-84AA-D30486D396A3.jpeg 926564DA-48A4-4BDD-B06D-EC554D05F5DA.jpeg
All in all in i’m pretty happy with the car after little over a year of ownership it’s exactly what I expected it to be. Uncomfortable to drive and live with on a daily basis but cracking fun on country roads.

Love it

I oddly like a car with a roof box on ! Always reminds me of the VW scene for some reason ... Euro look type thing .

Lovely colour and very nice wheels

Went to view my other baby today which has just landed back at the body shop after going off for a session of shot blasting. I’ve been stressing over it since Monday after I got the phone call saying it was about to go in but the shell is surprisingly good.
It wants some TLC in certain places but the vast majority of the body work is top notch. I already pre-purchased some panels I knew it needed; front wings, sills and a full front face but other than that it only needs some rear arches and the O/S/R chassis leg has rotted out which is structural but nothing that can’t be replaced.

Other than that I recently purchased a Quickjack system which I set up the other day. All works fine and dandy apart from one of the quick release hydraulic couplings is leaking and needs changing under warranty annoyingly.
Was hoping to give it a test run this weekend when giving the Clio a major clean including the wheel wells but not whist the jack is pissing ATF all over the driveway.:censored:
I’ve wanted one of these for ages after seeing them on YouTube years ago but only found them for sale in the states and was chuffed when I walked into Costco the other week and saw them.
Really hoping it’s not going to be a let down and this is just a one off.

Lovely looking cars. It's a shame you don't see anywhere near as many Sciroccos around as golfs as they're stunning. I also originally had ideas about doing a vr6 swap as my friends owns a mk4 R32 and I've learnt first hand that the engine is awesome. Eventually changed my mind and now I'm going completely stock apart from some uprated suspension. Also going back on the original P slot alloys, is it bad I own more sets of wheels than trainers?

this is like talking to my brother ... he must have 5-6 sets of wheels as well

Good plan with the golf ... you just don’t need to do a lot to them , they are pretty rare now and just seeing one is cool .

I’d never put a vr6 lump in the caddy if it was me ...may sound nice , but all that weight up front , it’s going to handle like a right dog . A nice clean 2.0 16v would have been better imo.
