Suj's Nimbus Clio 197 and E36 328i Trackcar

That's very interesting to know - I wonder what 'work' has to be done. I may give him a call.
From my Google search, it seems a remap is an absolute must with the pre-cat removed.
The only thing that puts me off is the cost of it all - £180-200 (mani), £265 (fitting), £400 (remap) = £845-865 for one job :worried:

Yeah it can add up, it's the Labour that is the massive price.
Mapping is £267 from ED (I asked them by email what they suggested, they said Stage 1 is fine for me):
http://www.engine-dynamics.com/Products/Product.asp?departmentid=113&id=106264

(They offer discount on here, have a read of this: http://www.clio197.net/threads/hello-from-engine-dynamics-discount-code-inside.54112/ )

I think unless you need the Manifold changing, I would wait it out and save for it all, you could do the manifold first see how it drives, then get a Map later, as you want to do all the power mods you want to before hand, otherwise you'd have to pay twice.

Dam man, your really spending some cash  the seats look really smart and in good condition too! That colour looks so much better in the flesh I feel, same as mine, don't think the pics ever do them real justice

Oh, what a banana - where TF did I get £400 from??

@suj @Micah this is an interesting discussion guys. Apparently, it's not possible to map out the flat spot that comes with going to a catless manifold. Yianni has just had this exact problem and if Paul at RST can't map it out, I'd be very surprised if anyone else can!

Oh bloody hell! What's a guy supposed to do? Fix a standard one and fit an Akra?
Hmmm...

The thing is, it's all based on manifold, cat and exhaust setups, intakes too etc.

As many have had Toyo manifolds, standard secondary cat, some sort of catback and then a remap and had no issues, same with standard manifold and also K Tech manifolds too.

I read Yianni's problem and thought it was seriously odd, but hasn't he also got cams? So another variable.

Way I see it is, standard manifold is stupid money, Ktech manifold is also, Toyo is so cheap, now I'm not one to buy cheap (buy cheap, buy twice), but I had a Toyo manifold on my MK3 MR2, it was well put together and great value for money.

The Toyo I bought was off my old R27 and it ran really well, that was a 95k miles car, with the same Milltek resonated catback.
So hopefully this also runs as good, otherwise I'll get my standard one back on with new flexis lol.

Yeah mate, he's on cams too. As you say, the variables are wild and expansive. Bit of a minefield really. But the bottom line for me was that I too was surprised that Paul couldn't sort it out.

Whatever, sometimes you just have to grasp the bull by the horns and see what happens huh?

Good luck mate, hope it slots in like a peach and has you grinning from ear to ear.

Haha thanks mate, yep I said I wasn't going to spend anything on mods.... I said that on every single car I've owned!

I agree, I wasn't a big fan, especially as my R27 was in Albi Blue, but it is definitely growing on me!
PS yours is lovely mate

Exactly, well said Mes, I'm not going go spend £500+ on something I know worked well on my last one (watch it now give me the biggest flat spot ever haha!)

When I spoke to Engine Dynamics, they said due to different exhaust runner lengths, they have to do a bit more work to get it running as OEM manifold.

THAT ties right in with my experience of getting Toyo, single cat, Scorpion resonated system; mapped by ED.

Got there in the end. But it took some going to match or beat the standard manifold by all accounts.

Think "we" eventually got to the final settings on Dyno run number 45. Serious !

GOOD LUCK WITH IT

looks superb..gotta love second hand sales..i live for them :french:

I dug out the email for people that are interested:

Engine Dynamics said:
I would say Level 1 would cover it, but having tuned a few of the Toyosports manifolds they seem to throw out the torque curve due to the their altered primary lengths. This can take more time to optimize, but we’ll do what we can.

Which is fine I guess, if it isn't as perfect as with the standard one I guess.

Haha same, being Indian, i'm as tight as a ducks arse :tongueout: hehe
Na I like a good bargain if I can get one

I totally have for now. Still sends me into cold sweats.

I think an Akra would fit your needs mate, I think you need to go out in one first, from what I have read / heard, quiet for driving and 70mph runs, only opens up when hooning about.

So I finally got the delivery.

I found some Bilstein B14s, literally nearly paid the lad, then I asked what they came off....a Late 200, dammit!

So then I was gutted, as I wasn't meant to buy any, but the price was good and stupidly low miles.

Then suddenly I made a thread in the CSOC FB group when I was asking if 200 dampers would fit.
Steve Murr then said he had some coming off an early 200! So I paid the man and got them delivered.

I won't be fitting them straight away, need to save up for top mounts etc, excited though.

@suj

Glad to see you got sorted with some coilovers mate.

@Pav bet you can't wait to try the new top mounts out when the cars back and all set up. The group buy discount is ongoing for the foreseeable future regarding the top mounts to all members

Haha thanks Shuv, i'm so excited to lower it slightly, don't want to deck it.
I just want it a bit lower. I have also bought some Bimecc 20mm spacers (hubcentric with longer bolts) that i'll fit too for the road (then probably get some Laguna wheels for track).

YES MATE!!!

Thanks Mes, yeah I cannot wait to get them on, I cannot wait to hear about yours when you get them on mate, they're going to be amazing!!!

Thanks Pav, yeah so many people rate them, and as it is more road than track it will fit the bill for now, especially at the price I got them.
PS I was reading your thread and Trevor's comments, looks like it won't be long until yours is ready

Yeah thanks again for your help Tom, it was much appreciated

I really want the top mounts you've organised in the group buy, but money is now tight for a while, so I will probably be in touch in the future

They just need a good clean on the adjustment threads, but i'll do that soon and put them aside ready for when I put them on.

Anyone got an instructions for where all the blue collars etc go please, I know one will go below the front spring (on the adjustment perch), and the other on the rear adjustment perch, but what about the others and the "cushioned" ones?

PS I hate you all for making me mod, when I said I wouldn't haha :tongueout:
