Hi! Indecisive Nimbus 197 owner!

Hello.

New here although I've had my 197 for about 5 years.

It was my daily for the first few years, doing 40 miles a day, but it hasn't been used very much since getting an electric commuter. Currently needs a bit of work to get back on the road but not sure my hearts in it. As fun as it is to drive, it kills my neck!

Is it the done thing to discuss valuations on here? Or do I just stick it on eBay and hope for the best?

Cheers.

Thanks

Cheers for the replies!

It has already been a bit of a project...

Here goes:

101,254 miles
Mot expired Nov 2020
Following done for that MOT: (@100,237 miles)
Lower mileage Gearbox swap – with a twist, more below…
New clutch, cylinder and lower mileage driveshafts
New radiator sub-frame and brackets
New ball joints & wishbones
Lower mileage Cup shocks
New Apex springs
New discs & pads all round
New gearbox mount

Current status: Radiator fan has seized, and the brakes need freeing off. Could probably do with a brake/clutch fluid flush.

Loads of old paperwork where it's been on various service plans by the looks of it. I’ve maintained it since April 2016 & 82k when I became the 5th owner.

The timing belt/water pump was last done Sept 2015 at 78k.

Previous work during my ownership:

Bluetooth retro-fitted
Powerflex top and bottom engine mounts
Inner steering rack tie rods
Fitted the rack bush mod
Changed the auxiliary belt and pulley while swapping the alternator
Drop links. Of course.
Alloys got refurbed then my wife took a chunk out of one of them within a few weeks! That's why the spare silver one is on in the pics. Hankooks all round. Bit of life left in them.

Right, the gearbox; It’s the one from the 2.0 Dynamique. 1st to 3rd are pretty much the same ratios... 4th to 6th a little taller. Sits about 1k rpm lower on the motorway. I still have the original box but it's crunchy and has been sat open after the bell housings had to be swapped.

The shiny pics were taken after a valet when I thought about selling it before the MOT ran out. It had new mats and rear window edge seals then too. It is no longer quite as shiny and the front bumper is loosely fitted. There are scuffs and scratches on it and the tip of the rear wiper arm has broken the paint on the boot lid.

Interior wise, the driver's seat has a tiny hole on the base and the bolsters are a bit creased but not ripped. And I’ve been meaning to clean the front seat belts since I bought it!

Lastly, I've only got the one key.
