Strut Braces

According to R.sport there appears to be no difference between the 200 road car and the 200 racer.
They are the uk specialists. Good mod for a 197..maybe not so for the 200!

A friend of mine that has Clio 200 (KW Clubsport, Quaife LSD) and uses it as a track day taxi has switched to this ARB and he said to me there's a noticable difference and that this mod is second best to the LSD.

If he's lying, so am i.

I've asked him via PM before I ordered mine:

"Anti roll bar will give you a lot of feel and grip, but the No.1 pick is the LSD".

He has (suspension mods):

Clio 200
Cup wheels / OZ Ultras on Michelin PSC+ / Federal 595RS-R (when doing track day taxi drives)
Quaife LSD
KW V3 (at the moment I asked him about the ARB, now he has KW Clubsport)
Clio Cup Racer 22mm front ARB
rear inserts in the proces of getting to Croatia (will let me know how do they perform)

Do R.sport have a website that you can just get this front arb from? Or is it as simple as walking into a dealer with the part number, they then order it and the jobs done?

Thanks

Nope..R.sport are the only specialised dealer who are allowed to sell the racer parts.

I asked my friend to elaborate more on the front ARB:

I'm not sure if the RS Clio 200 Cup has thicker ARB but this, what I have installed, is 1mm thicker than my OEM ARB (my Clio 200 is not Cup model).

What did I get with it? I'm doing exact the same times on track with poor/bad tyres as I did on the new ones/better ones - with Federal RSR959 I'm having the same times as I did with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup. IMHO, I got 1s on the track with that setup.

The track is Grobnik:

This is not a long track so 1s means a lot (1.52.xxx was his best time if I remember correctly).

For the rear upper brace, from the photos I can see the two mounting points when looking in the boot for the bottom part of the brace but as far as I can see the side mountings look as though they bolt into holes on the rear seat iso fix brackets? Can anyone confirm this?

Just seems odd as those holes are not threaded as far as I can see? They are just holes!?

How does it full secure to the rear in these holes?

Thanks!

That´s correct.

The upper part is mounted to the rear seat iso fix brackets with the bolts that come with the strut brace.

Thanks for clearing that up evo, it's just those holes are not threaded and as far as I could see you can put a nut the other side because there is no access to the other side of the mounting point?

In my car the left rear seat iso fix bracket is open so you can put the bolt in from the outside quit easy.

The right side is more difficult. You have to squeeze the bolt in with your finger. It´s quit difficult to get it in the hole but it can be done, then put a wrench on it and fit the nut through the brace on the other side.

The strubrace comes with 2 different bolts, one thicker then the other. That´s beacause the holes in the seat iso fix brackets aren´t the same size.

Good luck again.

I see the left side that's easy, thankyou.

The right side didn't seem to have a gap unless I missed it? There obviously is a gap there otherwise you wouldn't of been able to squeeze the bolt in I assume!

Thanks again!

Changed the oil, oil filter and the front ARB:

Clio 197, 20mm

vs

Clio 200 Cup Racer, 22mm

Made <5km with the new ARB and I can feel the difference in the curves - I can drive faster than I did before - less understeer.

That's it. Will write some more when I make some miles with the new ARB.

Well worth the £87.
