Should I change brake fluid before a track day?

I'm doing a trackday next Friday at Oulton.

I have an 18 month old 200 Cup. Should I change the brake fluid for 5.1 stuff?

I'll be running Carbotech XP8 pads too.

Poor fluid = poor brakes. You don't need dot 5.1, Motul RBF600 will do the job. You'll need 3 bottles, cheapest place I have seen is larkspeed.com. But it has been a while since I bought some.

Should have said I agree with Willis though. You most likely will be OK but it will ruin your day if the brakes only last a few laps each time.

I use the motul 660 stuff and flush it through every 6 months. Never had a problem.

Top tip: halfords racing brake fluid ( yes they do sell it, in a silver/black container ) is cheap at £11 per 500ml but has the same boiling points as the expensive stuff!

Thanks for the advice.

This might sound a bit odd but I've decided to try fresh standard fluid (whatever it is).....Renault are offering brake fluid change for £39 so I'm booked in at Renault St.Helens on tuesday. Saves me a lot of messing.
