There is an IF but about 2 weeks. Ste is on his holidays next week then I've asked him to take the head off and check the internals when he's back but all being well she'll be coming home.

She still needs mapping to her full potential but I'll be getting her around 300 and just go back when Ste is fully up and running after his move.

It's been a long, hard 4 months.

still friends? man love at its best

You just get on with it don't you. We've had a falling out, made up and moved on.

Certainly not as easy as I wanted it to be.

She's being mega treated (as if she hasn't been already)....Picked up some V3's! ooommpphhhh!

Brilliant news! Bet your so excited? Nurse it for a few weeks then enjoy it's huge rewards.

Those suspension will be saweeeeeeeet on it.

To be fair...I'm not. Until it actually gets here, I just keep thinking that it might not happen. Don't want to feel disappointed again.

Fingers crossed tho.

Let's hope you are gonna your beast asap mate, it's been a long long time without your beauty..especially this time of year:worried:

Any updates Pete?

Well, after weeks and week of troubles, the car has been at a different diagnostics centre. They specialise in fault finding. They apparently managed to find some faults with the inlet manifold and fuel rail and spent time tweeking and ironing out any issues and all was well. Then, as before, they took it out for a test drive and the car basically went back to square one. LEAN!

Ste and I had a conversation on Wednesday, where we was just throwing stuff out there and just talking aloud and the subject of my exhaust came into question. It's the only thing left from the car basically and I seem to recall that when TDF installed it and done the original remap they also said the car was running lean. However, they only told me this AFTER they had installed the new exhaust. They didn't do a pre-run. (They also told me they mapped it out so didn't think it would be an issue. Different engine and all that...)

So after telling Ste all this, he's like 99% sure its the exhaust (Can't remember all the technical vernacular he was going on about) but he says it would cause issues. So have had to fork out for a Milltek non-res and he's sorting that out to see if it cures the problem.

I'm just waiting to hear the feedback from it. If it doesn't fix the lean issues then I think i'm going to pull the engine. If it does...4 months of pissing about on the car, fault finding with the engine and it turns out to be the exhaust...waahhhh!

So watch this space I guess...hopefully I'll know by Monday.

Well that's more of a positive update! I'm glad and have every finger crossed for you. It's been a long and no doubt expensive process with the trial and error too. I hope the exhaust works, as again, that's an expensive trial and error.

I can see how the exhaust would cause a problem though, if the exhaust is for an n/a engine (usually a smaller bore) then it may be completely restricting the flow exiting the car, causing a huge back pressure.

N/a cars need back pressure to work, turbo cars don't, but also you do need some pressure to an extend as the turbo seals take a hammering if there's no back pressure on the seals.

I've never heard of an exhaust making a car run lean... unless its leaking. Or the position of the sensor is up the left or something

What exhaust is it?

Plenty of boys running a 197/200 exhaust on their now turbo'd cars, no biggy using them thats for sure. Mine included. Backpressure is one of those massive myths in the car world, pulses however different story. Finally that physics a-level talking about gas velocity is coming into use after all these years... yessss lol

It's a TDF system. In all fairness, Ste did say he'd never done a conversion with this exhaust before. Although being a Scorpion backbox I'd have thought it was ok.

Time will tell! Did say something about back pressure and that possibly causing it to run lean though...

any updates?
Yeah but I've not said owt cos everytime I say it's coming home something else happens so just fed up of making myself look like a **** tbh lol

Think the new exhaust has cured the problem. Initial reports are that it has richened right up and now makes boost.

Waiting for ste to test drive it for a couple of days before we know it's all done.

Hopefully next week (a week short of 6 months) but I daren't actually say either way.

It's done! A FOURTH fuel pump was the missing part of the jigsaw. Litchy popped in on Friday and Ste borrowed his and he says with that, it's mega. Apparently it's rapid and runs perfect so will definitely have it this week.

Monday marks 6 months of tearing my skin off in frustration but glad it's over. Will be running a stock 300bhp map but back next year for the all important custom map that'll push it to around 350 with any luck.

so 3 pumps were "faulty" and a different exhaust has cured the weak running?

Well the 3 pumps combined with the tdf exhaust never really solved it. Swapped it over for a miltek and it was an instant improvement and a high pressure pump was just the last but of the jigsaw.

I reckon that tdf exhaust is specifically designed for an NA car. It was way too restrictive.
