New Albi 197 - Fresh Face Friday!

Hey guys...

checking in to the site - new Albi 197 owner here picked Chloe up yesterday.

cracking car - squat and chunky! and love those front arch vents!

Full fat - no Recaros unfortunately but not too fussed. Got the steery corner light jobbies.

Love the colour - close to my Audi RS4 and Golf R32 and suits the car sooooo well.... OK it doesnt have the grunt of my V8 RS4  but thats not what I bought it..... Its an absolutely cracking car - probably going to head over to Diamond for cambelt/pump/service - anywhere else in the West Mids/Staffs area worth considering? (specialist not stealers).

been out to clean it today and put the dog guard in the back....I spotted a chappy on here somewhere who had no rears seats and a perfectly shaped storage tray/platfrom setup in the back (belgium?) can we get that set up here in the UK? I could do with that! otherwise a bit of a DIY rip off is on the horizon.

Already has stubby bee sting - just bought zorst tips - online (got have a shiny end right chaps!)

To do -

service as mentioned above

drop it 30mm (any recommended springs?) looking at Apex on fleabay - they ok? drop it like it says on the tin? also Im hoping the standard shocks are ok with shorter springs? and no random rear wheel locking will occur as a result of dropping it? like back in the 90's!

fit zorst tips when they arrive

wheels are silver/clean but fancy turning to the darkside :jedi:

poss wheelnut covers although Im sure mine are black and are "ay okay"

already has an aftermarket panel filter (need to look closer to see what make)

possibly repaint brembos a different colour and get braided hoses...

also read on buyers guide that many owners buy spacers but then remove them as it hinders the go kart-ness (new word of the day) - is this really the case? Ive seen lots of 197's (dropped) and the standard rims seem to fill the arches better....so Im assuming have hubcentrics.... Im happy with the front but wanna bring the rears out slightly - where and what size guys? or......is it best to sort out the springs, let them settle then take it from there?

thats enough for a 1st post LOL - Im off to put the kettle on and await a :faq: reply LOL (jest)

cheers guys
happy friday.....................

A lot of people put H&Rs on which lower it 30mm and can be had for about £160

A Midlands-er!

Welcome!

Join the West Midlands group! We're having a meet on March 4th and you'll be very welcome.

Got to be honest though - never liked Albi Blue Clios. ESPECIALLY the 197 one.

Welcome along Roary.

For the springs you are better off with either Eibachs or H&R but if budget allows coilovers is the best option.

As for spacers option is divided but you can opt for a set of OZ wheels with the higher ofset that fill the arches just right, check out Noddie's Alien Green beast and you'll see what I mean.

If you are changing the filter the ITG is the most popular.

Other than that just enjoy her and attack those corners quicker than the RS4 dreams about.

Here she is...my 197 and RS4

Cheers chaps!

Attached a few pics of my beauties...(nothing new to you guys really, I know that, but thought I'd share anywaysss)

did get a security token error whilst uploading......

gotta love blue! :jase2:

vaccumed Chloe today and removed all hideous dealer stickers from the rear window.

noted about the springs cheers - its a little to high for me atm, so will keep em peeled for some H+R's...

checked my panel filter today - its a Pipercross jobbie - lightly oiled (foam), will this cause any MAF issues etc? ITG much better? I know theres not going to be a lot in it but just wondering - would rather change it if the oil may cause issues....

ordered some clear front indicator bulbs to clean the front up...

got some upgraded tweeters to fit in the dashpods, how do the covers lift off?

any point in a front strutbrace or are these badboys pretty tidy in that respect?

right - off to order some wheelnut covers....

best place for hubcentric spacers and H+R's? (will do a search - promise) :innocent:

Welcome!!!

They look even more squat/wider when the lettering is gone.

Glad you're enjoying Chloe as nature intened!!! You've had a fine couple of cars by the sounds of it, good work.

As has already been said, H&R or Eibachs will probably be better than the Apex and are certainly the two most popular Springs around.

this is the rear interior Im after - taken from user hothatch.be..

was going to pm him but he hasnt been on here for a while?

any ideas how and where guys? preferably a UK solution, otherwise will DIY a similar set up....

Not too shabby that list hahaha!!! How did you find the FTO? I love the styling but hear mixed things...

Wouldn't mind seeing that MGB-GT, you'll have to stick some photos up when you get the time.

sure thang bud will sort out some MG pics...in action (I think there is some on google search from Shelsley Walsh - will dig some out)

FTO - loved the car (this was about 10 yrs ago) but the tiptronic wasn't the best when you wanted to "drive" - great box in UK traffic and commute to work etc...would have preferred a manual which would have made it a very different "drivers car" but inherited it off my Dad and had no choice lol.. sounded great with decat/filter and zorst and handled very well after lowering... (then erm crashed it - eherm anyway - movin on!)

hmm you got me thinking now Ive seen your signature bout the V6 airbox now...

off to clicky search....LOL

Hahaha, that's a slippery slope mate, it's worth doing but it's not a simple bolt-on!!! There's some photos and info' in my project thread.

That's pretty much what I always hear about the FTO, gearbox takes something from it. Shame really, I bet they can be made to be quite rapid.

should I have put these pics etc in the gallery or ok here as new member?

anyways - will check your project thread dude taaa
