I fixed a Clio 200 not so long ago and I have a theory on front spring breakage I did notice the tang that's sits at the end of the spring is a lot taller than it needs to be and because the spring normally breaks at the bottom coil I think the tang can hit the coil above and hammers the coil until it corrodes or cracks it so the last time I cut the tang down to the height of the coil end as it does not need to be higher than that. What do you think?
So spent this afternoon ripping out arches and doing some cleaning at SWR in Stirling.
The stones , Mud & grit at the back of the arches was unreal so managed to get that that all cleaned and taken out.
All wheels off and cleaned inside out, car was then washed and then brought onto the ramp to do a couple of small jobs.
Wee update on the rear.
After months of looking for yellow head rests to go in the carI have managed to get a full rear Cup bench with yellow head rests.
All that’s needed now is rear seat belts to go yellow and that’s the interior complete.
So little update,
Managed to get myself some rear seatbelts which will be getting sent away to KolorKoncept to get re-webbed and match the fronts.
Car was well over due a service so got stick into that with all new filters and fresh oil.
So while changing the oil filter I came across some stuff I did not want.
In 2017 I got the front lower radiator support changed under warranty and when we pulled the under tray off the thing is in bits.
The rust is hanging off it and its bad so once again I will need to be changing it.
Going to go for a slightly upgraded one from BTT motorsport who supply them powered coated.
Next up was rather a lot of oil, Yip sump gasket leaking so been parts hunting to get all the parts needed and then back in for a new sump gasket, Bolts along with oil and filter change again.
I have not been using the car and been using a couple of others.
I won't be doing the work as it will be getting booked into my Renault specialists for a fresh oil change again and new sump gasket.
