Little bit of slop when pulling away...

LOL

I think I was bracing myself for worse, was pleasantly surprised, and now reality is setting in and I’m realising I’ve turned the shell into an engine sound resonator.

I think I might try a new OEM part instead ans see how we get on seeing as it’s so easy to switch.

I’m really interested in the other bushes too as I do like how tight everything feels
Does make a huge difference! Car feels great after them all

Polybushed the front arms too, recently got solid top mounts but yet to feel what that's like

Ok serious question time. If I fitted torque arm, bottom engine and gearbox mount and got all the rattles etc do you think it does harm to any other part of the car?

The best solution for worn mounts is always brand new OEM mounts if you're worried about vibrations. If you're not bothered then the powerflex inserts are fine.

Although even then, don't expect the inserts to last too long. I'm fairly confident 1/2 of mine need replacing again after a few years of use.

I decided to order a genuine Renault part. Will fit and see how we get on - if it's significantly worse I'll consider replacing other mounts/bushes or going back to poly.

Best approach with trial and error, until its set out how you want it! See how the car feels and take it from there!

I've swapped out all the mounts, and it made a huge difference to the feel of the car. Made everything feel much 'tighter', although for myself the vibrations have never eased up and the interior rattles drive me insane! The radio, and some sore on the eyes anti-rattle tape have helped ease the pain mind!

Haha, I have some anti rattle tape to use too. I bought a bunch of second skin for the resonant panels and some closed cell foam for the door skin and then I fitted a poly torque arm bush. Maybe a bit silly. It's not terrible, but at odds with what I'm trying to achieve.

One Q though - which of the mounts are the most important for engine movement? upper torque arm bush obvously, but if there are others I feel like I should probably just buy and fit them given they'll be the same age.

I’d say the lower dogbone and the torque arm are most important. The lower dogbone does seem to wear quite a bit, a new OEM part would probably be well worthwhile if you’re worried about vibrations.

You can buy febi dogbones for ~£25-30 which are OEM quality/maybe even OEM.

Soz this Q got lost in the noise. No, if anything it will do good for the parts that need to tolerate movement, such as the exhaust because it won't flex as much. Rubber bushes are there to pretty much isolate the engine from the cabin as much as they can get away with. I suppose it is possible some interior screws and fixings could rattle loose, but unlikely to do any more than make noise.

Did the lower dogbone today. Used a febi part and could't see any difference between that and the OEM part except that it was in better condition. Totally fixed the lurch, so now I think the torque arm wasn't the 'fix' but it made things better. Feels like a normal car now, so if anyone else has these symptoms they may want to try the lower mount first and it takes even less time to change - only 2 bolts!

I believe the Febi one may have been slightly stiffer compared to OEM - that's a good thing though! Glad it solved your problem, well worth £20-25 IMO.

Did the lot in the end, turns out each mount is about as effective as each other so if you do them one at a time as I did it'll get 25% fixed each time. Using OEM mounts for all is much nicer than using poly inserts, but if my car was for track use only I'd probably stick a poly bush in all of them and drive fast, because at speed it doesn't really matter - its just louder.
