KTR exhaust & remap!

not poorly. The f4r engine is now 2 b down on power 2 begin wit n the fact its got low milage aswel the engine stil as 2 loosen up.

177 at fly works out at about 155 ish at wheels not gud but like u say it cud be the milage I know mine had about 183 at fly when I first got it I'll have a look for the dyno printout. Think its about 200 at wheels without charger so it might be a duff dyno?

trust me its the same with 172/182 and probably 200s, you get good ones and bad ones but it does mean they are poorly as such ( well in most cases)

Our dyno (RS Tunings previous 2wd Dyno Dynamics dyno) is very conservative with its readings. We have yet to see a 197 get near the standard power figure and most seem to do around 175 on our dyno. 172s and 182s seem to produce in the low 160s.

The main reason for the dyno is to show the before and after figures so we can see the gains we have achieved.

David.

how can you have that attitude? u want to know the "true" bhp/ lb ft figure

No chassis dyno is ever going to give a 100% true power reading....way too many variables, strapping force, tyre deformation, transmission temps etc etc etc...
Best you can hope for is a realistic REPEATABLE figure. Consistency is key.

yeah true. strapping force? does this really affect it? every time my car has been on a dyno its just been strapped as tight as it will go and then go no measuring of strapping force.

Yes, well hammering the straps down as much as poss just causes alot if unnecessary friction and heat. These are losses which can't accurately be accounted for, and more over can't be accurately replicated each time....as you said they weren't measured.

Ideally there wants to be NO downward strapping force, unfortunately most dynos require this to obtain any level of traction.
That's why the new dyno we are building has a single custom designed 600mm grooved roller...to reduce the requirement of downward strapping force, and provide more consistent traction levels.

hmmm I will make sure he doesnt buckle it right up next time. is it dangerous to reduce strapping pressure or tension whatever its called lol?

It's not dangerous no...point is it's usually over done as a requirement to get traction on the rollers, ie to prevent the wheel spinning so a reading can be obtained.

yeah ive just text him calling him lol and he says "his rollers are for 4wd cars s require more strapping" is that true or is he having me on?

They require more to stable the car as obviously neither "axle" is fixed, so the car Can move about more. In any case a Clio on a 4wd dyno is still only a 2wd dyno!
That's not the same as saying they require more strapping to make traction. Some have very good traction ability and only need strapping to steady the car.
Who's is it?

Its a place called CTM around the corner from me rick suiter hes a ford specialist but like u knows his stuff.

Hi! I had the K-Tec Racing cat back exhaust fitted last week and the Stage 1 tuning remap applied and a 12,000 mile service (including new plugs) at the same time! :bounce1:

My car showed good gains on the KTR Dyno; the initial peak flywheel power was 177.5 bhp which increased to 188.9 bhp! Perhaps more impressive was the ~ 15% increase in torque and a marked flattening of the torque curve! My car was quick last week...now it is lethal! :tongueout:roud:

The exhaust is quite a bit noisier than I expected! The note is deep and very throaty - I love the pops and bangs as I change up through the gears. It is a real head-turner!! Cruising is OK - perhaps not as quiet as I would like - but the 3500 rpm boom is still very much in existence! 70 mph in 6th is just unbearable!!! :001_rolleyes:

So, the overall verdict is very positive. Another excellent experience at K-Tec Racing and I will be back again soon. I am hoping for a front splitter, side skirts, cup spoiler and.... This could get very expensive!?!

Thanks guys!

Hi Matey.

Pleased to hear you are pleased with you new exhaust.

I am saving up for a Albi blue clio 197. Hoping to get it next year.

One of the mods I would like to do to it is take off the standard exhaust and replace it with a K-TEC racing Milltek 197 Cat Back Exhaust System.

I take it is this what you have got?

From what you are saying if it is the same one i want the exhaust to sounds, roary, have a nice deep sporty tone to it but NOT a deffening rude boy droan if you get what i mean?

Cheers

Chris

I have the K-Tec cat back exhaust which sounds great! It is a lot noisier than standard when the engine is under load but quieter at some speeds when you are cruising! The exhaust note is very nice - a really nice deep rumble at idle! There is still a 'boom' at about 70mph but the 'pops' from the exhaust as you change up and down the gears makes that worthwhile! All in all a great upgrade and I am well happy!

Its the ktec pro performance mate, made by janspeed, not the miltek. Miltek have the lipped tail pipe and do drone. The ktec pro performance as standard lookin tail pipes is raspy n pops gargles.

ok Sorry mate got mixed up with the two.

I'll probably go for the Milltek one tbh, despite the price it a bit more steaper.
