How did you choose your Clio

Ok then guys, what made you choose your clio in specific over the others out there?

Did it just happen to be local - or did you travel for a particular spec?



Me personally I traveled to the south coast to get mine - the 200t's are few and far between - particularly LY ones, and my one was specd exactly how I wanted it (or as close as I would get).

Saw one in a customers car park and liked the look.

Scouted the net the next weekend. Same colour for sale 130 miles away.

Went and purchased on the Sunday.

Mainly the colour, solid service history and travelled all the way to Edinburgh from Reading to get it. Spec wasn't exactly what I wanted but as it's a track build wasn't that fussed.

Saw it on the Interweb, loved the look of it even though I really don't like white cars. Lovely spec, awesome upholstery, low mileage, fsh - have every receipt from new, oil changed every year. Paid too much, but not worried as it's a keeper. Drove from Inverness to Hemel Hempstead to view it & drive it. Bought it & flew to Luton the following weekend, bus to Hemel Hempstead, dealer picked me up at bus station, drove to Inverness. Happy bunny .

Ha. Seeing as there were THIRTY FOUR R27s in Racing Blue, we were not exactly spoiled for choice. Thankfully, as we had decided on an R27, spec wasn't that much of an issue as they came with everything we needed and anything else on top was just a bonus.

Took many months to find one and we had to go with higher miles than we wanted (56k) but the car was spot on, had clearly been looked after, lady owner, bang on service history, new brakes and basically pretty impossible to say no to.

Luckily it was only 2.5 hours away so not too bad.

Purchased Litchys shed, ( Now Arthurs shed.) from Glen 3. It came with torn bolster, bald tyres, very badly damaged, rewelded, cracked rims, no service paperwork at all, BUT I knew what the car was, and what it could be, and after a lot of time and effort, I am nearly there, and as the car is a keeper,none of the above matter.

My 200 i bought back in 2012, the guy I bought it from was a friend of the family he was in the army and it was barely used - he owned from new.

Then I sold it...I was lucky to be in a position where I could own an Elise again...

2016 many cars had passed through my hands, now had a baby and I really wanted a fun car again - got the ok form my wife and started looking found it difficult to find anything good, one sunny saturday morning I woke up and started to check autotrader...hang on a minute thats my old car...and it was!.

Phone call to the current owner and he was very nice guy, but it was overly priced and had to put my sensible hat on and walk away, cam belt was due also - he was told it wasnt by his garage which started a long exchange of txts trying to persuade him it had to be done.

Continued to search and saw some other cars a Clio 200, R26 and they were terrible, what a waste of time travelled absolutely miles to view sh1te cars!.

About a month later he was still trying to sell it and long story short went to see it - it was as good as i remembered it, it had been looked after well so the barter began, price was agreed and i bought it back in September last year.

Its a second car, very much a garage queen...

Bought a new Seat Ibiza, kept it a year, took it back to dealer to part ex it in for a Cupra R. I use to work at the dealership, they had taken the 200 part ex in for a Leon Cupra R, so salesman threw me the keys and said have fun. I did and I bought it. 1 owner, full RSH from the local Renault garage. Low miles. The car was bought new in Dover and its still here. Even talk to the original owner. Couldn't have got any better imo as far as 2nd hands cars go.

I actually didn't have much choice... It was the only Gordini for sale in my country. Bought it in 2013, but being a 2012 car with only 13.000 kms at 11.000€ less than sticker, it was a no-brainer!

But I liked the look of it so had a quick look online and mine was for sale about 20 mins away, so went to see it. Had a drive and loved it so put the deposit down and collected it 4 days later.

Now it has as a Megane engine in it with many other mods lol!

The problem for me Chris it's only a short term relationship with my cars 2/3 years max but always but Cup chassis and AC are my only must haves

Mine was the second I viewed. I saw the first one (Albi) on Saturday afternoon, which had no paperwork, limited stamps in the book and the salesman told me he knew it had had the cambelt done because of a date (3 days earlier) tippexed on the engine block...

The R27 was a short drive away, with the spec I liked (Recaros and Cup), full history, standard, great condition. I doubted I would find a better one, so I went and saw it on the Sunday to make sure, took it for a test drive, loved it, put a deposit down that afternoon and picked it up Tuesday. Three years ago this April.

got my 197 as it was all i could afford but with my AG 200 it was pretty much the exact spec i wanted and just had to have it as i loved my 197. bought it from KTEC and only rove from hampshire so hour an half

Had been looking for a 197 even before I bought my 182, I drove past the local Renault garage and saw what I didn't realise was a R27 being driven by one of the mechanics. Seeing the Recaros done it for me and the search was on. Had to be a 197 and ideally had to have Recaros and Cup pack, wasn't bothered about colour. My search took me up and down the country looking for my low mileage, FSH mint example, after many dead ends (it's amazing what people describe as mint!) I found a low mileage, RB R27 in great condition locally but the dealer wouldn't budge one bit on the price. I mulled it over for a few days and it was sold so back to scanning the ads and whilst on holiday in Gran Canaria last year I found my dream R27 at a specialist in Yorkshire. Liquid Yellow, standard, 15k miles, FSH, Cup spoiler and splitter and 2 owners, the first being Carl Chambers who is a member on here who actually builds and races cars and also has a Clio V6 and the 2nd owner who only had the car for a few months but had the belts done in that time, so I was clearly over the moon. Few phone calls later a deal had been done and the car was on a trailer up to Glasgow. According to Carl the car was basically a show car and go be honest it still smells like new. I still have the my 182 so right now the 197 is a bit of a garage queen.
