Highest mileage 197/200

Wonder what the lowest mileage (for year) is?

Im on october 2009 reg (59) and have 16000 on the clock and had 1 gearbox change(hopefully the last lol). Would like to use it everyday but dont get the chance as i use a boring diesel company car which has done 32000 in 14 months!

I find it quite interesting how a lot of the cars on here that have experienced problems are low millage and often underused.

My motor does a huge amount of miles but never puts a foot wrong.

Angel, I believe what you say is the case, under-use allows time for the seals to dry out and perish. For items such as brakes, clutchs, starters and alternaters time to sieze up. Whereas a 'working' car the components are constantly being lubricated or used allowing them to stay otimal for as long as possible.

We've had several cars from new which had done starship mileage without ever having any problems with the best one being our old 58 plate Laguna which went back with 125k on the clock when it was 3 years old without any issues what so ever. Infact the 54 plate scenic we had did 145k in 4 years before going back and ony ever had one problem which was a fuel line problem to the turbo at 90k.

Our work fleet of VW caddys have all just gone back at 3 years old verying between 105k to 150k and none of them ever broke down in there service life with us, they was poorly serviced and thrashed to bits too.

I bought my old Corsa, 3 years old with 3k miles, no problems at all and its now on 30k? maybe it's just the clios?!

Bet he has/had Clio elbow ( big time )

I know I get it on the long commutes

relax your shoulders and dont rest your elbow on the window! lol

i used to get white finger on motorway journeys in my rover metro. anything over 65mph caused the steering wheel to turn into a hammer drill!

dont get hung up on "mileage" its more to do with the type of use - town driving/stop-start short journeys is the killer.....

Exactly, although mileage is low i tend to go for weekend drive outs of an hour or more (clean the pipes out after my mrs has clogged it up all week with trips to shops!)

I have a 200 FF+Cup and it's pretty good on the motorways. I often drive from Calais or Caen to the Cote d'Azur in a day (10 hrs Autoroute at an average 130kph and 30+mpg).

In fairness French motorways are better than the UKs, and just swapped from Continental SC3s to Good Year Eagle F1s - much quieter and more comfortable.

I think tyre noise is not the worst thing even in here scandinavia where roads are really really worn and bad compared for example Germany. The worst thing is gear ratios and exhaust/engine noise. I sometimes use ear protection plugs even in 100kmh because of exhaust and engine noise is so loud.
I took a test with desibel meter and clio gave something like 80-85db when cruising 100kmh. I have been thinking all over 80db is damaging your ears.

ps. i suggest you try some quiet car sometime. For example bmw 5 or 7 series.

I'm not sure why orange mobile had these but i bought a very similar car in the summer on 100k in black. 1 previous owner, orange mobile! No synchro issues and no cabin wear. A few stone chips though... Only issue with mine was steering wheel peel, full Renault service history and hasn't missed a beat so far. 99% sure mine had a motorway life before my ownership, the tyres were pretty worn in the centre but had loads of meat left on the shoulders... It still feels like a new car!
