Help Choosing Wheels

I have a set of 225x45x17 AD08's spare which I would like to try on my Clio 200 (FF with cup suspension)

I would like to buy a second set of wheels for these to go on and am looking for a bit of help choosing wheels. I think I will need 8" rather than 7.5", but not sure what offset to go with? I don't want to get into lowering the car at the moment (simply because I don't want to upset the superb standard handling - unless fitting something like H&R lowering springs does not negatively effect handling?), and I want to stick with black as the colour which I like on my Albi Blue car. It would also be good to save some unsprung weight if possible.

Given the above, what wheels should I be considering?

Cheers,
Dave.

This has been discussed innumerable times before so a search might provide more information than I can type in a single post but...

If you want to go to 8J / 8" wheels most people have gone for an offset of ET55, this gives the same effect of about a 20mm spacer with regards where the outside of the wheel sits.
I have found that on standard cup suspension running R888s at VERY high cornering loads a 225/45 tyre can just slightly catch the archway, but you'll be more than fine with the Ad08s. I think I need either to try 215 section tyres or if possible add a bit of camber on the front

You don't have to go for 8J wheels though, I ran 225 section tyres on the oem wheels for quite a while and there's very little difference so as much as there is no difference practically to how the car feels whatever combination of tyre/wheel you use between 215/225 and 7.5J/8J.

As for what wheels, well what's your budget?

See here for lots of examples: http://clio197.net/forum/showthread.php?t=30946

There is no specific budget - pretty much whatever it takes to get the right wheels (within reason).

If lightness is the main thing then the OZ Alleggeritas are about if not the lightest you can get without looking at the kind of wheels bought by race teams on multi million pound budgets.

The one a lot of people have gone for though are the Ultraleggeras:

They're a bit cheaper but weigh a bit more too, a slightly less involved manufacturing process used. They look nice though

Or the new boy, no idea on the weights but they might look good.....

Now then if its weight you want to save then feast yer mincers on these beauties from Wed Sport..

They weigh in at under 3kg each and are around £10,000 per set, choose from a couple of styles..
