Dear Jase

It's great for the family, means we only need to take 1 car when we go camping now.
Been on lroc but tbh most of the landy sites seam to be focused at off roaring, I'll be the first to admit that the most mine will ever go off road is on the pavement. It will be a true Chelsea tractor.

As said, I only plan on keeping it till the next Clio is out.
Would have got a 200 but couldn't justify going on finance for a car that is basically the same car as the 197.
The landy will stay as standard as poss  so I can save some funds for the next clio (but being an SE it next to top of range anyway, only needed sat nav to be same spec as HSE)

So are you sort of thinking that when the next RS Clio comes out you'll keep the LR and get one and run them both? If the rumours are correct and Renault do fit the next one with a smaller capacity turbo engine, similar, dare I say it, to a Corsa VXR - the running costs should be a little more stomachable!
So did you have to go in 2 cars when you went camping before?

:blush:mg: this makes me feel :worried:

although i do know what u mean, the 200 is good but just not good enough for us to change the R27. We are awaiting the next gem Clio RS, hopefully a non turbo one

Jase....did you return it to standard? I wonder if you still have the carbon spatts you might consider selling them on?

You could !!
I had a 2000 TD4 took it all over europe, but it was allways breaking down .My mates wife has a 1.8 we did the head gasket on it last year 3 times .Finaly got the latest revision head gasket on it and had the head rebuilt. A couple of weeks ago it seized solid ,the bores had filled with collant ,turned out to be the inlet mainifold gasket leaking .
Also get the chassis checked as some left the factory with chassis member missalingment and had to be recalled and welded.
Widow and electric failiers are another problem area.I use to find more faults on these than any other vehcle when I did vehicle inspections for the AA and Directline etc. .
Good luck and have fun off road..

landrover modified the k series engine by using a modified/stronger lower engine block rail / headbolts / head gasket / head dowels - i also think there is a modified inlet manifold gasket

if you need any parts rimmer brothers is very good - even has an on-line cataogue

BTW as the site founder what will hapen to it Jase? Will u be driving the landy to the Clio meets.
I've got loads of Freelander books and brochuers, try Rimmer brothers for bits and MRH in Hertford are good for service and repairs.
Yes there is a moded inlet manifold gasket make sure you get it fitted. .

Awesome that youve got the car you need got my mum an Freelander 2 the other month only its a derv, but a bit of advice from the trade just keep an eye on the market values of these cars as freelander petrols can be worth something one month and nothing the next.

All cars have problems, even the 197.
Even had more problems with my mk4 golf than the Clio, and they are supposed to be well built.
The landy does have the newer engine. It's had all recall work done and is going into a specialist near me for a full check over.

For now I'll be hanging around on the site but obviously alot less. Mike and the mods will be able to manage just fine.
I might not be on every day , so if your needing stickers or merchandise just bear with me.
As for shows, I'll be at the asda bash but think that will be all until I'm back in a Clio as I'll be saving hard.

you gonna get a cup spoiler for your Landy? and some coilovers? and a fancy rear diffuser? and .. and ... and .... itg filter !!

You need to learn from the ladies how to drive a 4x4 now.

Whenever a situation arises where you may need to reverse, raise your head and point your nose in the air, stick it in reverse, then swish your hair around so it looks like a Loreal advert

Proper mum truck driver then :smile::smile:
