Clubsport 250 Cup

Hello
So I'm a little behind with this. Still didn't go sub8, so feel free to skip to the end :disrelieved:

Much the same as April, I went over, did a lap in the Touareg, ate lots of food, and more importantly didn't break anything. The only difference this time was going over on the eurotunnel. Definitely won't be doing that with the trailer EVER again! What a horrific journey.

Really enjoyed this trip. Was a bit crap having no @R20BTG to share food platters with though!
The Gopros also behaved a little better this time round - One camera just wouldn't work whatsoever, and the one which did worked around 50% of the time.

Second video is pretty cool chasing my mates brother down in his Mk1 Focus RS. It has a G25-550 turbo, so is an absolute rocketship down the straights.

Cliosport Festival 2024

Definitely one we as a forum should collectively make more of an effort to attend in the future. Turn-out from the track baguettes was a little better than of recent. We had Ben, Simmo, and myself, along with fiesta Dave who doesn't own a fiesta but owns a LY Clio, and Davis who previously had a 197 meglio and has recently purchased a megane mk4 trophy.

Ben and Simmo wasted no time in making some new friends.....

With the exception of getting in Ben's way all day, the track time was mega. Photos were a vast improvement over last years too.
Thanks to the TurboRenault lads for arranging that!

Davis let me have a bash of his mk4 too. Here's me piloting his, and him piloting mine.
Once he's sorted the brakes out, it's gonna make a mega clubsport track car.

Keen to attend CSF. The event looks quite good on he Cliosport.net threads that I've seen. I wanted too attend this year but couldn't get any commitment from some mates that claimed they were interested and felt daft attending on my own!

Anglesey seems really bad for tyre wear. Would it be a track day if Ben and Simmo didn't get a bollocking for something?

It’s been quiet. The baguettes all growing up, Iain being a responsible adult, and me changing jobs again are the excuses I’m sticking with.

Meganes sat basically untouched since the last trackday, and I have had thoughts of selling. So, to snap me out of that mood, I’ve booked a trackday and finally stopped flapping and bought some oversize 356mm floating discs (originals are 340mm). These are probably gonna require some engineering bodgery to fit underneath my 17” Protracks, but we’ll see where we end up. They will be coupled with the Winmax W6’s which have sat in the boot of the Touareg since June.

Great little thread this. I’ve had a megane in the past during my many Clio’s, how do you think they compare?

Because of my height I think I’ll have to get the same seat as you put in your Clio (and width ) does it fit alright in both with the SWM mounts?

They're completely different. The Megane is a way better road and clubsport type car, whereas the Clios just feel at home on track. There's no doubt that the Megane is a way more capable car on tracks like the Nurburgring, but over here the Clio is the car to have.

The seats fit fine, but are very very tight against the door card where they jar out in the shoulder area. For me it's not too much of a problem, as the seats so far back that it barely touches it. There was definitely way more room in the Clio which sounds odd, but my helmet is practically in the roof of the Megane.

I think I agree with you on the ring v uk thing, good way to explain it, I missed the NA aspect of the Clio to much and as I’d just bought a house it was easier to find a good one rather than a Meg.

Glad you’ve said that, my Meg had a panoramic roof and thought it was that but defo less headroom, I’m 6ft 6 so need the height of the sparco or similar even if I do get some pork off, did it interfere with the cage?

PS you need to 3D print a copy of the corvette ducts and sell them along with your cold air feeds for the Clio….
Hopefully I see the car about next year, remember seeing the “baguettes” once at Cadwell looked a right hoot to be involved in.
