CDTi Vaux Insignia

was driving home last night when I seen an insignia driving like a **** through the town center due to traffic lights I kept stopping beside him and he kept flooring it off the lights.. again caught up etc.. we got to the traffic lights just before the motorway and I through why not up to 70.. see what its like I was a little disappointed to say he was beside me the whole time! i was revving right round the rev range and nothing got to 70 and let him go but meh what a croc!!

standard spec is:

2.0 CDTi SRi (160bhp) 5d 9.2 s 134 mph 157 bhp

9.2 ? I should have spanked him! Even with a remap.

I had a similar thing with a New Merc C class diesel.
Was a little disappointed to say the least but the Clio is not about a drag race is it.

I wonder if that Insignia could keep up around the track... simply, NO!
Remember any d**k can drive like a fool through town, but whats the point.
Plus diesels have loads of torque and a big fat turbo or two to boot.
Don't be too put out, your still going home in the Clio after all!

To be honest had something similar with a V50 2.0D last week, certainly pulled away nicely, but not to the extent one might have liked!

I think that 0-60 time is 4 the lower powered CDTi tbh. My dad had a Vectra with the old 150 1.9CDTi in about 3 years ago and it was bloody quick - the 0-60 time on that was 8.8! I still think the 197 should have spanked it though!

dont forget how those times are arrived at - totally brutal with the clutch and gear change !!!! really slamming it home....

When i thrash mine and rev up high the gear change becomes very hard to slot in.
It makes it easy to miss the gear and 'crunch' the gearbox!
So i very much doubt i'd be able to achieve the manufacturers 0 - 60 time of 6.9 secs.

Hey Foxspeed, where did you get you R26 wheels from? - they look perfect.

torque is where he has you and unfortuantely on the road without ragging the nuts of a 2l there is just no substitute for it.

I don't think they do the V6 CDTi in the Insignia. The 0-60 on the Vauxhall website is 8.9 seconds.

dissapointing guys. had it happen a few times before. tbh thats y i started modding i wanted it to be faster, to eat people alive off the line. I was getting there and ive had some awesome races with cars welll above the clio's league.

All i can say is start modding and you wont be dissapointed. cams and an exhaust with a custom map will make the clio go like a rocket, low end torque to ure hearts desire and the sound . . . . . . well carry a change of underpants lmao.

Most half decent diesels will do the Clio in a straight line.

But then they have the engine from a ship, stop mucking about with traffic light GP's and get to the back roads :tongueout:

lol ure right there jaxx. the clio will keep up with the likes of bentleys on the twisties lol thats saying something

lol I could. It was funny seeing them dissapear as my car hit 100mph top end of third lol.

even a remap helps, gives it that low end torque it needs

We need to organise a race. Someone needs to book a 24 hour test drive in an Insignia CDTi and meet up with several of us in our 197s. Then we'll see if it was remapped or whatever!

Bagsie not driving the Vauxhall! Lol!

lmao do they do 24hr test? i saw they were offering it in the new astra to over 25's. who insecure enough to map a family saloon?
