Car tyres

Just a quick question.

I will be needing 2 new front tyres soon. I was under the impression you should always have the newest tyres on the rear of the car.

Is that correct?

I have no facts but I highly doubt it! All the power, most of the stopping and the lateral strains will be on the front tyres, where you would want the newest/grippiest tyre surely!?

and in "theory" thats why they "recommend" fitting to the rear so it doesnt "oversteer" but instead understeers....the easy way of handling!

me i would fit to the front if i had to but i usually rotate all wheels to even out wear and replace 4 at a time so never have mis-matched/old tyres on the motor - a bit "anal" over tyres all being the same etc :001_rolleyes:

This would explain why a few months ago, 500mile into my new fronts, I had a very hairy moment coming out of a 90degree corner.

Definitely replacing 4tyres next time!!
