Brakes - Fast road and track set ups...IN HERE.

HEL Hoses (Stainless)
OEM Pads (Brembo/Ferodo)
OEM Discs (Brembo High Carbon)
Millers Oils 300+ Race Fluid (DOT 4+)

Never had any issues on road or track, very dependable setup.

Well as these discs have served me well for the last three years and the pads are around half-worn, I'll be making some changes roundabout March time. I've already changed the fluid to ATE SuperBlue and although I'm still really getting used to the new engine and haven't pushed her too much, I'd have to say I'm very happy with how the pedal feels. I've had two years and around 10,000Miles including 7/8 trackdays out of the Millers stuff and it's done me proud. The pedal will always feel better with fresh fluid, so it's hard to judge if it had started to ''go off'' as such but I wouldn't hesitate to use it again in the future. The reason for my change to ATE is it's what SteC had suggested as he uses it in his track Megane (which gets more than abused) and Oscar360 has been using it in Kermit for a few months now and been very happy with it. I'll report back in the next few weeks once the boost has been turned up and I've had a chance to push her a little more on the current pads and discs.

I've been looking at a few different disc options, everything from another set of OEM discs, to the Cazan Racing 330mm package (J-Hooked with matching rears) to even going as far as changing the calipers full-stop and going with some Wilwood 6Pots. I will more than likely stick with the OEM discs though (unless they let me down in the coming weeks) as the Clio is overbraked as standard and I don't think the discs are the weakest point of the setup anyway. One very well regarded Ford ST/RS specialist had a right good cream over them when he had a look around Nicole last summer and to quote ''that's what the RS should have come with''. I think with correct cooling they should be able to handle the extra demand from the newly increased power so that's an area I'll be looking into at the same time.

In terms of pads, I've been very happy with the two sets of OEM Bermbo/Ferodo I've ran through now. This second set in particular have taken an awful lot of abuse and they still feel strong now, even if they do look a little tired!!! People use their brakes differently and I know some people claim to be able to destroy/overheat the standard pads in the course of a trackday. I'm not one to p!ss on somebody elses heroics, all I'll say is I've never managed that or even come close to it. The only time they've felt like they were starting to give up was at How Fast last year when it was very very hot outside anyway. I've got a set of Alpine Renaultsport RTL04 & RTL03 (F&R) pads here from an R3 rally car which I'm going to try out... I'd originally sold these on to Yiannis when I was looking into the Wilwood setup but Yiannis wasn't happy with the glazing on their surface so I had them back off him and I've finally got around to giving them a good clean up this weekend. It's been hard to find much information on them but my understanding is the RTL04 is just below the RC8 and the RTL03 is based on the RC6. So, they should be more than ample for me, my only worry being their performance from cold but I've been assured they'll be fine. Only one way to find out I guess!!!

Absolutely loving this set up, before I had OEM disks with EBC Redstuff up front and OMP race pads on the rear. I thought that set up was excellent until I got what I have now which is beyond epic. Anyone that says you don't need any more than OEM quite frankly doesn't know how to brake late..

Fernandez, can you give some info on improvements on the 330mm upgrade you do. I'm interested in them next time my brakes are due. I'm on my 2nd set on the front within 30K lol.

So I can't imagine I'll be long for the upgrade

i wanna be the first person to use the ksport set up, but i cant justify £900, i will be running the 330 set up, whether that be pf, or angels set up who knows

Jonsey, the ktec 330 is made my PF anyway. Is that the one you're talking about?

I believe its the one I'm running. (I got mine from Noddie)

And its *only* 760!

yeah thats right mate. Another 140 on top and i could get the k sport set up.

Yeah...I thought about that. 356mm!! Have to run 18's all the time and I don't think they work well on a track on a Clio.

K sport aren't the best quality from what I've heard, my friend bought the 8 pot K-Sport kit for his Evo, wasn't impressed

Different car altogether tho. Dunno, might just be my wheels. They feel exceptionally heavy, I just suffer on track.

Think I'll stick to 17's for the track and 18's to show boat

dont think you'd notice the weight difference tho

Why do they specifically say about them being in conjunction with then? What comes from PF?

u wouldnt impressed be if u use their standard pad

This. Std pad is just road pad that doesnt compete with fast road track pads, get some DS2500 or PF01's and not a lot will beat them. With the 8 pot callipers you are looking at a near on 100% increase in pad surface over the Brembos
