200 running Temperature

Hi folks
just picked up my clio 200,never been into french cars however drives well...so wel see how it gets on,first thing that worries/bothers me is the running temp, when driving it never gets above the first bar,if you sit idle it will climb to the third, move off and it drops back down.
Is this normal? Or a thermostat knackered ? I read some conflicting reviews even people saying change stat to a 172/82 to run hotter ect?
Advice and opinions are welcome
Thanks.

most of them run just above the third or slightly below. to be running 1st bar sounds odd. most probably a funny thermostat

Agreed. Mine is normally at the 3rd bar around town but otherwise is at the second bar if not slightly above

These are supposed to have a low temp stat in, so they run at a lower temp during normal driving and will heat up a little in traffic. Perfectly normal

Antee is right these cars is not like most of the cars that suppose to be around the half most of the time
I assume Our need to be somewhere between quarter to half

In traffic it will be sitting at the normal position but it will cool down again as you are driving and sucking in lovely cold air. It's quite normal for this car.

been plenty of reports on here of faulty thermostats...

they are a 75 stat iirc so run cooler as standard anyway

not a difficult job to do if it needs sorting

The 172/82 run hotter no?i would stay with the 200 one ,( replace to new of course if its not working)
Renault's engineers must know what they doing

Probably been done a million times, why type d when changing it all surely the ethylene glycol pink stuff would do if awful change?
